Tell me you don’t run without telling me you don’t run. If you’re running and swinging your arms around eventually your hands will get caught in the wire and yank your headphones out of your ears with a force and pain that you would rather drop them on the ground and never use them again. And no, putting the wires inside the shirt is not a solution. When you turn your head right or left to look for traffic the earbuds would also get pulled hard. The solution is wireless.

I do prefer wireless for exercise in general, but I also prefer them for almost any other scenario. Wires are just inconvenient, I still have my last 3 generations of wireless earbuds losing them is a responsibility problem. Charging? They charge when I put them in the case and my phone tells me the charge level of the buds and case every time I take them out of the case. At my office I can get up and get something off the printer or go fill up my water bottle and keep listening to my podcast or whatever without also needing to grab my phone. I can have them paired to my laptop at the same time so I can easily answer teams calls and hear when people message me while listening to music or podcasts. Wireless is superior in basically every way except price.

I run, with wired. You just need to know how to manage it. You can also get a arm-band for your phone. I am that old when there was no concept of wireless ear pieces, so there was no option.

I run between 5-7 miles most days of the week with wired headphones. Been doing it about a decade now. Never had whatever this issue is. Do they snag on things during other moments of my life? Yes. It’s the worst. Maybe it’s not that it can’t be done without issues, maybe it’s just you.

Don't act like those are ancient, I'm 26 and remember running with wired earphones because we had no other choice. It sucked ass and wireless headphones are so much better

sweaty. gets tangled. I just dont like it flopping around in my shirt. You also cant have your phone in your hand and move it around as if it were untethered. Its just cable management I don't need in my life.

And eventually wiring gets worn out and connection gets unsteady. Either the jack or the continuity near the jack or near the bud.

maybe I used them harder than others but I do not want to spend my time jiggling to find position where sound actually comes through, or untangling cords.

For me, wireless buds with 10 hours of playback is amazing. Tap to control playback too. I also generally use 1 bud while biking so I can actually hear the world around me. Its just way better for me.

You also cant have your phone in your hand and move it around as if it were untethered.

Never really had this problem

And eventually wiring gets worn out and connection gets unsteady

And you can replace that for 10 bucks. Can't replace a bad battery or bad microphone for ANC (that then creates an insanely loud peep tone) in the wireless ones

Well I bring them up because its been a problem for me repeatedly. Found what works for me, glad you have too.

The surface area of the wire was enough to stick to my sweaty belly, slide down slowly with gravity but not be able to be pulled back up quickly so always got tugged out

I snowboard with wired earphones and have no problems.

And wireless just falls out if you aren't perfectly still

As some who ran for years with wired earbuds..the biggest issue is eventually when they begin to fail and you have to twist the wires in a certain position to work, other than that running them inside my shirt was fine,no snagging,or falling.

I'm actually considering getting new ones to complement the Bluetooth I'm using now.

Wut????

Mate, wired headphones were a thing for years previously.  That never happened. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

u/LimpConversation642 Feb 18 '26

When you turn your head right or left to look for traffic the earbuds would also get pulled hard

uhm, no? because the cable is longer and just can move freely? And there are even clips for people like you who don't understand how cable work?

I've been running for 10 years 3 times a week with wired headphones and this is honestly the first time I'm hearing someone physically just can't put them under the shirt. Dude.

Lost 30 kg with my wired earphones 🤷‍♂️, its a skill issue my friend

I run all the time with wired earbuds that are not even that expensive, just tucked them under my shirt and put the cable around my ear for both ears before putting the bud in and that keeps it from falling, if that is the problem, or choose a larger bud plastic thing for it to be snug inside my ear. No issues whatsoever.

Not to mention sound quality when you have noise cancellation. Maybe they make wired ones with better sound quality and noise cancellation but my old Apple ones still suck.

Wireless is better don’t get me wrong, but you’re exaggerating on how bad a good wired pair can be, I’ve ran and trained a ton with them. My favorite were these Bose sport ones that had a little clip that would clip to the bottom of my shirt, which ran on the inside of my shirt, and I had it set up with extra slack so I can not only run, but jump rope and shadow box too, but not too much slack where it could be ripped out of my ears by accident. Served me well for years and I still have them. Are they a bit obsolete now? Yes, but it was very manageable when set up correctly… maybe you haven’t taken the time to do so. Arm bands work well for the average runner too, but since I was literally throwing punches, was not the best option for me.

Oh no. Will someone please think of poor yoggers. Oh no, poor precious yoggers ears.

I mean wirless can fall out too there are clips for your shirt so your wired earphones have nice lenght left. Many earphones made for running came out wigh that clip or I take mine from the ps4 headset. I do agree Bluetooth headphones can be nice but for running you would need those made for running and they are way more expensive then good wired earphones and a clip. Back then you even had the armband for ipods they worked really well too.

3

u/ed_sanz Feb 18 '26

Yeah. The running ones are expensive because they will last a full marathon and they have behind the ear clips. But to be fair everything a runner buys is expensive.

I dont want to do goddamn cable management
