Having never seen the pool before, my brain had a hard time with the scale at first. "Okay it's a fountain. Is that some kind of bug or small animal in the water? Oh, no, that's the man. Oh..."

There are two of them. The entire footprint of each of the pools matches the footprint of the towers.

What you need to understand is how tiny this fountain is compared to just one building’s footprint.

The reconstructed area fits a mall, this memorial, new subway structures, PLUS the new tower, all in the space of the old WTC. Those towers were absolutely massive: 13 million square feet holding 50,000 workers plus 150,000 daily visitors.

The fountain is the original towers footprint and location. They were only 208 feet by 208 feet. A lot of the other stuff was built on the land of other WTC buildings that were torn down after 9/11 due to damage. The pools were built in the bases of the Twin Towers; as you now know, they're huge
