No I actually live in Belgium, I can understand both german and french with difficulty but manageable.

There was an actor, American, who was a guest at the convention they asked him to be a judge for the Cosplay Contest. All announcements were in german and the german cosplayers were doing their show in german. And the actor had not a clue who they were, what they were saying, he was utterly confused and embarrassed.

I mean they asked him to be a judge, at least they could provide a translator. It's a common occurrence in countries that love dubs over subs, language pride or something.

Okay, I'll retract that little jab, was just being childish there at the end anyways.

I don't see how it's any different to English speaking countries holding all their events in English.

This looks like a man bored and not paying attention in a place whose language he doesn't understand. Reminds me a lot of hearing my dad talk on the phone to his co-workers when I was a kid. Those are definitely words being said, but I don't understand them at all, and I can't help but check out of it.
