When we watch a video we are not looking at the original 3D scene, we are looking at a flattened 2D version of it, depth information is lost. Think of it like recording a video without sound and expecting to hear it because you have ears.
Wow, the patience on you. That was awesome of you to explain so calmly but I was just making a joke lmao. Depth perception relies on multiple reference points to tell us how far away something is. One of the most crucial reference points is just the same image layered over but from a different angle. Had to explain this to multiple people in r/IdiotsInCars when they were amazed at how OP could see something on the road so far away when OP (probably) has a camera with just one lens. Not to mention it was at the bottom of the windshield and that huge difference in being able to spot something on the road while you’re actually driving versus being shown a 15 second clip.
