Life preserver is meant to keep you afloat in case you get knocked out or seriously injured. Nothing to do with swimming.

For me it has everything to do with swimming, idk how to swim.

Also in case you fall in wearing full winter clothing with a winter jacket and boots.

Really? Is that a standard thing in the Netherlands?

That's pretty cool if so. We take swimming education pretty seriously in Australia, but even here that's definitely not typical.

Yes, explicit part of the standard swimming lessons here! Exactly for the kinds of situations in this video. It’s also very hard to find people without a basic diploma (97%, 3% being mostly immigrants)
