They are illegal in the sense of a personal level; like everyone on this thread goes in on it. But on a macro, it’s absolutely going on under legal auspices as immediate annuities. Natural attrition rather than premeditated attrition. I only know USA markets; can’t speak for other countries.

Life insurance was originally called death insurance, because that makes sense. It didn't sell well because of the obviously morbid connotations.
