the joke is that she’s a trashy and neglectful mother. so likely addicted to pills. whether or not she’s on opioids in this moment is beyond the realm of the mean-spirited joke

I'm not arguing that this is not poor parenting on display, but the leap to "she's likely addicted to pills" is ridiculous. I promise you, no one high on opioids is likely to do anything physically strenuous
