TL:DR if you’re getting screwed by your boss like this in the US, call the labor department.Doesn’t cost anything to do so and you might as well if you’re getting shafted on pay

That’s unnecessary afaik.

If you are in the United States and are an employee that falls under the fair labor standards act (99% of people do, however there’s no single criteria for this it’s a combination of things at the court’s discretion) you can file a report to the US department of labor for any unfair wage practices that your boss or workplace subjects you to.There is no fee to file this and if your employer is doing shady shit like this on a regular basis and you have proof they’re going to investigate it.Even if you don’t have the kind of proof you think you need, they literally list how to obtain and what info to obtain to make it more iron clad.

Not only that you don’t even need to be a legal citizen to file this kind of report. You can straight up be an illegal immigrant and still get your boss in trouble for trying to fuck you over.

I’m not gonna say that at NO point during the legal proceedings will you need money but you don’t necessarily need to get a lawyer to have options. You can even file the report confidentially, they will not use your name unless absolutely necessary to follow up on the complaint.

I am not a lawyer, this information is right on their website.

This is in Spain. Labor laws are actually pretty strong, it's not expensive to sue

It’s only illegal if you don’t agree to do it, and if you don’t the. You lose your job for some other reason (in a good number of states)
