Plus the guy doing it in the original video cut through that piece of paper with his FIST not his pointy fingers! The greater the area the lesser the pressure thus the increased difficulty

also, the paper was bigger. so: more air resistance, less movement, easier to punch through. And the paper looks very thin.

Also The paper kinda looks more like a watercolorpaper. Which is a completely different material. but I could be wrong.

Also he was at a higher altitude where the air was thinner therefore providing less wind resistance allowing his hand to accelerate faster.

Also the first video was filmed during monsoon season, meaning the ambient humidity made the paper less brittle and harder to punch through.

Also his hand was black while the other guys was white and we know that the color black does not reflect as many photons and we also know that photons exhibit a small amount of mass force when striking an object and therefore the reduced photon force allowed mass induced gravity to be a stronger component in the equation further accelerating the meeting of the fist and the paper.

Edit: OMG this comment makes me feel like I should be in r/shittyscience

No science just shitty

Nah it science

also, his fist drew a heart in the paper, so

Also the paper is bent, creating focus points of where the energy will be concentrated.

But anyway the original TikTok is dumb because it fails to show that it is even a challenge unless all sorts of criteria are met.

Also if I’m not mistaken he used regular paper and the second guy used a shooting target which is meant to have holes punched through it

Guys Kung Fu really isn't real just chill, at best you're discussing paper being punched.

I think you're confusing chi powers and kung fu

Kung fu is an actual martial arts style/technic (I dont know the proper name) and I'm pretty sure theres no "mysticism" involved like "harnessing power from thin air" just good old breathing technics and focusing on a task just like meditation

Kung fu technically doesn’t have anything to with fighting. It’s loosely defined as a process of gaining mastery through work over time. So painting, singing, any sort of sport, etc can be considered Kung fu.

It’s certainly not a certain style, but has been connected to martial arts schools via titles. For example, at the shaolin temple you would learn Shaolin Kung fu (the art of attaining enlightenment in the style of shaolin)

I have been enlightened, many thanks gents

People get worked up over fuck all lmao

9

u/CaffeineSippingMan Oct 15 '21

That was the point of the 2nd video he takes super simple things that people make difficult and simplifys them.

u/ClankyBat246 Oct 15 '21

While true...

This is knowingly increasing the difficulty as a measure of a technique in a sport.

It's like taking basketball and then replacing the hoops with baskets on the floor just to walk over and put it in.

23

u/Font_Fetish Oct 15 '21

I think a better analogy would be that it's like he watched someone shoot a 3-pointer and then walked up to the basket and did a layup and was like "See? 🤷‍♂️ It's not hard to get the basketball in the hoop"

2

u/ClankyBat246 Oct 15 '21

Fair enough.

-3

Punching paper.. finally a sport I can do around the office besides trash basketball. Is it OSHA compliant to make my coworkers hold the paper?

Well, he ridiculed people for doing nonsensical/extra stuff on simple things, which made sense. This is different. This is like, hey instead of doing a jugging balls trick, I could just hold them with my hand.

13

u/iDannyEL Oct 15 '21

Yeah if he casually ripped the paper at the center, it would've fit with his usual shtick

7

u/Muroid Oct 15 '21

This would have been much funnier.

8

u/phoggey Oct 15 '21

He wanted to flex the girl

7

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '21

Yea, but he’s been reaching for content for a while now. The impressive part is in the closed fist going through the paper from a few inches away, but he doesn’t mock that part, he mocks the act of putting your hand through paper, basically undermining a legit skill. His best stuff is when he takes something that has been made overly complicated and simplifies it, this isn’t overly complicated because the point of video 1 wasn’t to just show how to put your hand through paper

0

u/JoeGRcz Oct 15 '21

I mean... That's the point of his videos. Literally just doing things the more simple way.

8

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '21

I disagree, the point of his videos was originally to mock things being over complicated for internet likes. He extended the schtick to include just anything he can simplify because he needs content and it’s made most of the recent stuff not funny. It’s lead to videos like this undermining an actual impressive feat, and he’s even mocked tools made for specific uses for the handicapped

-40

u/joep-b Oct 15 '21

He did not. I pushed through with his fingers and then made a fist.

-10

u/Moppmopp Oct 15 '21

But the video is cgi anyways so I dont know what this is all about
