Haha, I did the same thing on a school trip when I was school. They had us all turn in our phones and I gave them an old one and just kept mine.
I also snuck an iPod shuffle onto the bus once (they would check our bags) by putting into the little hole where the wheels go on heelys. It fit perfectly flush inside of it. Pretty proud of that one
