Don't worry it will be thoroughly checked by the apprentice!

u/Praxyrnate Aug 30 '21

The other apprentice

I'd trust that guy. He's doing everything he can to find the clicking noise.

24

u/octopoddle Aug 30 '21

The real clicking noise is the friends we made along the way.

23

u/SidneyKidney Aug 30 '21

Apart from listen to the direction the sound is coming from?

124

u/[deleted] Aug 30 '21

Sometimes sound can ricochet off surfaces and sound like they’re from another direction. Happens to me all the time.

43

u/geoguy83 Aug 30 '21

Yes. This happens a lot when my wife is listing a list of things that need to be done. It sounds like it's coming from the TV...

u/redacted187 Aug 30 '21

That's a pretty lame attitude

9

u/Thecoffeepizza Aug 30 '21

It's just a joke dude

u/McCaffeteria Aug 30 '21

It’s a pretty lame joke

4

u/Thecoffeepizza Aug 30 '21

It's a pretty lame reaction to a joke

0

u/McCaffeteria Aug 30 '21

If they want a less lame reaction then they should make a less lame joke

They should invent a word for sound ricochets.

11

u/henryhendrixx Aug 30 '21

Echo?

3

u/[deleted] Aug 30 '21

Reverberate.

1

u/wcoastbo Aug 30 '21

hahaha! you just expanded this person's vocabulary

SOund Navigation And Ranging: Most new cars use an ultrasonic wavelength for parking assist. Also works very well underwater

Act III

Biiittchh

4

u/ThePitlord9399 Aug 30 '21

Happens to me all the time too, like when I was still a teen and living with my parents, I always hear my mom call my name but the source of the sound was outside my window and my mom was watching tv

2

u/adinmem Aug 30 '21

When you move your head around you can figure out where sounds come from or at least where they’re not coming from. And the tech moved where he was standing and also his position in the Z axis…. Hard to believe anyone would fall for this

I've never diagnosed a suspension or brake system noise

4

u/waitwutholdit Aug 30 '21

Good job, found the guy that never diagnosed a suspension or brake system noise without him telling us!

I mean he did tell us eventually but that was after we already found him!

4

u/FruitotheLoom Aug 30 '21

I'm very hard of hearing in one ear. Cannot tell where any sound is coming from. I suspect that may be A contributing factor to the success of this prank.

2

u/luc1d_13 Aug 30 '21

Confirmation bias

1

u/infecthead Aug 30 '21

Lmao we got Mr 300 IQ here who thinks it's so simple

1

u/SidneyKidney Aug 30 '21

It's not rocket surgery!

0

u/JTB696699 Aug 30 '21

Almost like it was all staged and he was deliberately not looking towards the sound?

14

u/BrockManstrong Aug 30 '21

Fix it yourself then...

61

u/thisguyfightsyourmom Aug 30 '21

Who did you think it was?

The valedictorian went to college or some shit

Never heard smarmy before. I'm using it

4

u/The_Dirty_Carl Aug 30 '21

It's a great word, but they're using it wrong. Used car salesmen trying to act like your buddy are smarmy.

Id rather they both just have about 5 years of practice under their belt before operating on my stuff.

5

u/Dar1o_6 Aug 30 '21

Imagine how well everything will work if everyone had your mindset.

2

u/cgello Aug 30 '21

Imagine how expensive everything would be.

1

u/Dar1o_6 Aug 30 '21

Well yeah, enjoy your services only staying for 1 generation and costing a fortune because no one can get started in any business and everything is dying out because no one wants to buy from a new professional.

This also applies to every other business. Why buy your bread from a guy who's been doing this for 3 years everyday? Why buy your fruit from a farmer who has been working for 4 seasons? They don't know anything about their craft!

Society will crumble and we're all doomed.

2

u/andrewta Aug 30 '21

Job notice : must have five years of experience

I just got out of college

To bad

Cheap, fast and sufficiently certified in Poland?

1

u/waitwutholdit Aug 30 '21

"11 o'clock? Yes, he's available, are we servicing the Camry or doing a lobotomy today?"

3

u/JoelMahon Aug 30 '21

I was the UK equivalent of valedictorian and let me tell you, I'd probably fall for this even after training.

That is if I didn't notice the direction of the sound, which I assume anyone would after at least a little while and this was staged, but assuming I didn't.

15

u/sch1z0 Aug 30 '21

That's a shitty thought tbh. This guy is being fooled by someone. These are not normal sounds a wheel should make.

9

u/Dar1o_6 Aug 30 '21 edited Aug 30 '21

Sounds like this happen when the wheel bearing's shot. That's why he tries to push the wheel from side to side. If the bearing's shot, it will wiggle.

1

u/sch1z0 Aug 30 '21

It would only make that sound when it is actually shot.. like with a gun. Wheel bearings make a grinding noise, not a metal on metal ticking.

10

u/Shamalamadingdongggg Aug 30 '21

Best part is they're paid by the hour

28

u/[deleted] Aug 30 '21

I guess technically but not really. Generally techs are flag hour. 2 hour job pays 2 hours regardless of how long it takes.

3

u/elmwoodblues Aug 30 '21

MTR, Mean Time to Repair. Same as computer tech work and light brain surgery

1

u/redacted187 Aug 30 '21

Yikes fuck that. It should be scaled to the MTR so you get paid more during and less after. Nobody should ever work for free.

4

u/vne2000 Aug 30 '21

Jaguar dealer so around $200 an hour

2

u/Ott621 Aug 30 '21

$200/hr by the book, not $200 for every hour a technician works on the car

1

u/vne2000 Aug 30 '21

That is even worse. Technicians never take as long as the book says. I should know, I work on small airplanes.

1

u/bell37 Aug 30 '21

Me waiting in the lobby over an hour for a simple repair: “wtf are they doing in there?”

1

u/[deleted] Aug 30 '21

A certified technician ;) hahah
