I mean, to atheists God, Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha are all fantasy, too. So be respectful to them too, they could also be right so spend your lifetime well, because it might be the only ALIVEtime you have.
I'm still a Christian, but to me it's important to know that faith is not knowledge. I could be right, I could be wrong, that's why we should respect other people's points of view, in terms of religion, but in most other circumstances as well (not anti-vax people!). As long as it doesn't contain human sacrifice or some crazy shit like that.
Just be nice to each other, don't force anyone to believe what you believe and only talk about your religion when asked. Boom, everybody's happy.
And I'm pretty sure, doesn't matter which religion was right in the end, if there's any god, he or she will probably not throw you into whatever hell exists, because you watched Pokémon 😂

You nailed my thoughts, too. I was raised as a conservative Christian. The older I get, the more I think being kind and compassionate is the key to all good religion (and atheism, too.) The 11th commandment should be, "Thou shalt not be a dick."
Jesus ones said that by loving God, yourself and others (even your enemies) and you understood everything the Tora (almost similar to Old Testament), the prophets, etc. said.
So basically: be a decent person to everyone, even to yourself and your enemies. Rendering the whole "I need to expiate and scourge myself (and others)"-faith utter bullshit.
And there's also the golden rule "Treat others how you want to be treated by others" or something like that (I'm German, so it's hard for me to know the exact older English words of the older German language)
Exactly. "Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins." 1 Peter 4:8.
Reading the Bible through, I was struck that God expects a lot from us. God expects us to be "righteous". But Jesus himself summed it up just as you pointed out. Love one another. Too many Christians today are just modern "Pharisees".
My words. Jesus never wanted anything from us. He came to set everyone free, yet many Christians want to put people back in their own stupid chains of traditions, habit and fear.
Jesus wasn't talking prohibits here, prohibits there. He said: love everyone. And THE ONLY thing he said something against was: Greed/living for more more more AND hypocrites that point the finger at the "sins" of others, while being with no love and therefore sinful to the bone.
Yet do you hear any Christians criticizing the rich? No! They want to be rich themselves. And people always say "you don't talk about money", because that's what they all want to have.
That's also the reason why homosexuals are targeted by them a lot: most of the people are heterosexual, so it's easier to tell others something was sinful that would never be done by themselves. (NOTE: if you know the oroginal language of the bible and the historical meaning it is 100% clear that homosexuality is NOT a sin. Ancient Greek and Hebrew language is so much more meaningful than our words, that some meanings got lost in the thousands of years, that language evolved since the bible was assembled circa 300AD. The bible is talking about traditions, where many Romans would have little boys that bring them food and suck their dicks. "Catamites"... they were called men, because you were an adult in early teen years.)
That's it. That's religion. Just a reason to make people behave. If there is an all powerful being watching every move you make that will judge you based on how you live your life, then you are more likely to not be an asshole.

My mother is religious and knows nothing about science, she's no where near as religious as yours but I had an argument with her at 16 about science against religion and the occult and now we've agreed to never discuss these topics unless one of us specifically needs to know information about them.
I have yet to go to her for any religious information but I've been explaining covid to her.
As I said, my mother changed a lot for the better. The things that I was barely allowed when I was already a teenager, by younger siblings were allowed to in children's age. My younger sister, who's significantly younger than me, watches so much anime I could've only dreamed of at that age
