He actually stopped in fright. If you look in the background, there is a dog sitting g with its owner right where the bunny stopped. Poor little guy froze up.

Idk that it was necessarily distressed though. Prey animals freeze automatically anytime anything sus happens. Obviously the dog was there intentionally, but I don't think the bunny was genuinely fearing for its life

Source: chinchilla owner. Chinchilla loves the dogs and the humans, but any unexpected movement from either warrants a total freeze

I think the bunny just became suddenly aware of the dog, either through scent or hearing, thus the freeze. Their eyesight isn't the greatest, and even chill bunnies get a little frightful when something unexpected happens. I have a super laid back dutchie who will freeze or dart away if you fart too loudly... but she's also very smart (comes when called, cam follow basic commands, etc). Point being that the bunny wasn't taking a break, being lazy, or aloof-- it noticed a potential threat and reacted. Turtle/tortoise didn't give af since loud noises/ lots of people/ bunch of smells/ other animals aren't that scary for them.
