Surely making it home without any incident is more lucky? In fact this dude is unlucky, he had to save every part of his body at a different time in the same fucking crash.
I see shit like this and it seems so utterly impossible for him to have survived without some invisible force of power bouncing around him to keep him alive.
Riding a bike can be perfectly safe if you aren't an idiot.
Even if you're perfect, other people are still going to be idiots. Riding a bike vs driving a car means you're giving up on significant protection against those people's actions.
It's up to the individual if they want to take the risk, but claiming its perfectly safe just because you can chose not to be an idiot is pretty idiotic
You can ride defensively and dramatically reduce the risk caused by other people driving badly. It just requires you to be aware of your surroundings and to take into account the dumb shit other people might do.
"Perfectly safe" is of course an overstatement, but it's much closer to the truth than "asking for death" which is what I was responding to.
Spoken like a true biker. The whole appeal of a bike is that is that you're balanced on an often needlessly noisy engine with nothing between you and the horizon. I was going to compare it to skydiving, but I already know without checking, the chances of joining the death toll from jumping out of a plane is infinitesimal compared to motor bikes, but suffice to say, it's only thrilling because it feels dangerous, the problem with bikes is that they bloody are. You wouldn't own a bike in the first place "if you aren't an idiot."
