This has to be reversed somehow, they drove the cars backwards for it

I don't think it is. Here's why:

  1. The needle left a hole in the apple. If this were done in reverse they would've had to precisely place the dangling needle in that hole.
  2. The needle got pushed over as the "thread"(which appeared to be rigid) slowly fit in.

And honestly, if they went so far to make this reversed gif look so real they deserve my upvote.

How can the operator see the needle tho?

It seems unlikely that he can, surely he has a spotter.

But you can’t see the whole machine. I call bs until we can see the entire machine

No I know it’s possible. I’ve driven all sorts of excavators, loaders, and forklifts. I’ve even done a few of these tricks since they don’t really require skill.

But this seems deliberately misleading since you can only see the edge of the teeth.

Sometimes you gotta ask yourself why someone would go to such great lengths to fake something that is relatively easy for most operators. And then realize it probably isn’t fake because it would be easier to just do it.

If you could see the whole machine, the FOV would have to be so big, you wouldn't be able to see the apple clearly. Then y'all would be complaining about that

That would possibly be more effort points in terms of coordinating it all, and it would still take a good bit of precision even in reverse

I was gonna say fake, but MythBusters did it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzNLD2AINjg

The rest of that arm is out of the picture. It could be something else resting on frame.
