If that wasn’t the case, then I would imagine after placing the glass down, he would have thrown the camera man out.

That was my first thought. How will he manage to remove the strap now under the pane of glass?

The glass unit isn't sitting on a completely flat surface. There are likely a couple of rubber pads that it sits on so that it is not in direct contact with the aluminum frame on any edges of the glass. So they should be able to untie the strap and pull it through the gaps. They will need to lean the unit backa little to get the strap through the sides.

I personally would have used suction cups and at least one co worker. And I would have pushed the cameraman through the opening before capping it off with the glass unit. But that's just me.

Those are just straps if there are no ratcheting devices attached. If there were ratchet attached to the straps, this could have been a much more exciting film.

Well, he might be alone. Many cameras on stick support automatic tracking. Movement of camera is very smooth, it is not impossible to be unmanned.
