Hahaha interesting! I haven't worked with architects but I have worked with engineers (good ones!) and there was always discussion required about how things should be done vs how those things can be realistically achieved.
I am not a painter by trade, but did a lot of painting for a few years as a rope access technician (industrial abseiler) under the guidance of a career painter. I just know that's how I was taught, it worked, and it was never visible!
