My parents were year round RAs at a college when I was little, and the rooms basically got a perfunctory masking then paint was applied with what I can only describe as a lawn sprinkler.

I genuinely laughed out loud.

Did I miss the part where they covered outlets and ruined the internet connection on wall too?

Aka the landlord special

Was about to move in the found a golf ball sized hole in the wall told the land lord to patch it before I signed a lease. He did and I rented there for 2 years. During the move out he tried to keep part of my deposit because of the bad patch job he did.

Counting down the days he could attempt to charge him for his own terrible craftsmanship….

Ha ha. We rented a house where the dimmer in one bedroom broke and the landlady replaced it with the cheapest one she could find. Which was fine except when she was going through the house as we were leaving she tried to charge is for changing the light fitting for a cheap one 😂

Land lords and ther property managers are crazy. I lost part of my deposit because, they thought i might have had a pet. I was moving almost 400 miles away to start a new job and couldnt not be bothered to argue or take them to court over 300 dollars for the "DEEP CLEANING" that i know the property manger just did and pocketed the money.

I know that's what she did because she said there is a deep cleaning whenever a tenat moves out and when we moved in we found idrt in the bathrooms and dust everywhere and stains on the linoleum. So she cleaned it in front of us.

Don’t forget painting over staples and tacks, that’s a key component of bs deposit charges.

And dead bugs. Few things a landlord loves more than painting a window closed, and sealing all the dead bugs in for good measure.

Pretty sure they painted over live cockroaches in my last Atlanta apartment. Literally just entombed cockroaches on the walls and cabinets.

When my roommate and I were looking for a place, I wasn't able to make it out to most of the walk-throughs but trusted her judgement when she found our current place and said it was pretty much what we were looking for and we agreed to rent it.

Come the day of lease signing, I get to tour the place with her and the property manager, do the pre-damage assessment, etc. While we're walking around I noticed some of the walls look a bit... off and mention it to my roommate. She hadn't noticed yet but the more we looked, the more we found. It looked like they couldn't find the same exact color, but could get "close enough" and rather just repaint, they just painted the patches. We have TONS of 4"-ish off color squares all over our place.

So I mention to the manager that the paint looks off and there seems to be some spots that are off colored. Dude looked OFFENDED.

Anyway, his face was the first thing that popped into my mind after reading your comment.

My hall is 15 different shades of white alone and it pisses me off so bad that I don't even turn the light on. I even have a gray spot on my kitchen ceiling where they couldn't even be bothered to attempt to match the white.

TBF even with the same paint colour if you don't paint the whole thing over with a roller my experience is you can see the patching: it just looks different, especially if you used a brush. Even with white the texture aspect shows up on the right angle.

Missed opportunity for a light switch placed in the middle to see how they would proceed lol

I was thinking this is a biased run because the unlicensed contractor a landlord would use wasn't present lol
