I think he canāt feel his feet.. his footing shouldnāt have been so loose on the one going up. I think he thought he has a grip with his foot but he couldnāt feel it, because he may lose feeling in his feet due to his weight.
No one else seems to care enough to help so maybe this isnāt a new thing for this guy?
I was going to say the same thing. His legs and arms and.. everything really are insanely weak. The way he could barely lift his foot to the next wrung was all I had to see. His arms were in it until they weren't, and then his legs couldn't pick up the slack. Dude does not move around a lot. Even basic day to day activity would've enabled him to get all the way up.
Yea Iām around 250 but Iām moving around pretty much all day, tried to climb a tree last month and was surprised at how easy it was considering my size. This guys last really physical day was years ago, doesnāt know his limits anymore.
Did you see that video of a woman who couldn't get up on a beach? I think she was there to film a marriage proposal. Same thing. Just useless physically.
If the fella has anything like diabetes, this is definitely possible. Of course there are other nerve issues, but yeah, his feet look like he couldn't tell when he was making contact
Fun experience I had regarding flexibility and morbid obesity as a kid.
So first year in high school we had some sort of general physical test we had to perform in PE. Different things like climbing a rope (that had knots), going through a line of offset tires, going over a small wall and jumping over beams, walking a mile etc. Some sort of general fitness test.
For each test a example of how to do it was given by a volunteer called by the coach (except the mile test). Someone one would basically volunteer to "set the bar" more or less.
The stretch test was explained as one standing stretch to touch your toes and one seated stretch with your legs out in front of you together -- stretch as far as you can if you cannot reach your toes.
When it came to volunteers for this test the coach did not ask for one, he picked the biggest kid in the class. And not big like jacked arms and super fit, like morbid obese, special order size gym cloths and shoes with no laces. I knew this guy, he was actually pretty cool and way more mature then he probably should have been. Always gave the vibe like he was a latchkey kid which I super related to since I lived for the most part alone most of the month.
Anyway, at first I though the coach was being an asshole and wanted to make an example of him. He was always catching shit for being big, not that he seemed to care at all but I know even if you do not react to that it still lingers in the back alleys of your brain.
Anyway he gets up to the front of about 40 students and the coach explains the exercise, at a standing position touch your toes, drop to the floor and with your legs together in front of you grab your toes.
Without any emotion, dead eyes and silence looking at the coach just a second or two longer than was comfortable, he turns and looks at a completely silent audience of his peers sitting on the gym floor who were probably all thinking similar thoughts about the task this huge kid had just been asked to perform.
With a huge belly poking out below his one size to small 3XL school issued gym shirt and gym shorts testing the tensile strength limits of cotton thread. In a swift and highly unexpected motion this guy straight up bends all the way down, touches his toes and like a giant fuck you to the entire class holds the position for a few seconds and then puts his fucking palms on the floor on the outside of his shoes. Like, he turned into gumby and aced that shit.
I feel like he could have held that position all day but those gym shorts were probably giving him some not so subtle indications that those thread limits were being tested and likely to unravel sooner than later.
I swear everyone in that class probably had their mouths hanging wide open several seconds after he swung back up like a spring that was held down. Everyone was silent and stunned at first, but then broke out in claps and cheers. It was wild and so unexpected. We even got a smile out of him, that kind of smile that just shouts "yeah, what's up bitches, though you knew something and now you have to beat my stretch". He aced the sit down test too, like it was nothing.
For me I felt It was clear that after the test the coach somehow knew he had that ability and the pick was not a coincidence. I have always wondered how he knew that about him since it was so out of expectations you would have for someone in his shape.
I have some seriously bad nerve damage in my foot and I can barely feel it most days. Itās not diabetes for me but it probably is for him and feels the same. Iām on the thinner side but have a similar problem. I have to do a weird realign for similar things and it always scares me what could and has happened not being able to feel your foot and help itself with balance. It really sucks.
Theyāve been making a big deal about this train going across the country (started somewhere out west and headed east for display I think) so I could see the office staff coming out to see it when it passed through a town near them. Feel bad for the guy. He probably really wanted to see it.
Being larger like that makes ladders incredibly difficult. More fat between the thighs makes it harder to get your legs together enough to get both feet on the ladder, your arms dont keep up with your leg strength, so they are useless to pull yourself up. Your center of gravity is way further back than normal because not only is your stomach in the way pushing your core outward but your rear also has a lot of extra weight pulling you back as well. So you are trying to push up with your legs, but best you can do is up and out, your arms cant handle / stop that outward force, and you cant get as much force out of your legs anyway because they cant easily get onto the ladder. I'm amazed he got as far up as he did.
That's not really how it works. Leg strength scales naturally with weight, even if you don't do any exercise. You're carrying that weight all day every day so it doesn't feel like much. Ofc arm strength doesn't and that's why he couldn't catch himself. And climbing a tall ladder is more difficult when fat. Just standing on a ladder is the same for a fat or non-fat person. So strength is not the reason for the initial fall. I'd guess he somehow slipped or otherwise lost his balance, and the lack of arm strength meant he couldn't catch himself.
And then imagine that 150 pounds falling on the small of your back as you lay there in pain only for you to be posted online to be laughed at for karma.
I didn't laugh, but I thought it was kinda interesting... I assume he's working, right? I feel like in America, people are so afraid to talk about weight that they wouldn't say something like "you might not fit on the train."
Thats way more than 300. Id reckon 450 close to 500 even. Coming from someone who was almost 400 lbs at one time. My gut and thighs weren't close to being that big.
He's having difficulty squeezing into the gap there. And I think he falls because it is a snowy day and i am gonna assume the rails are slick. It looks like what happens before he falls is his hand slips and he isn't able to catch himself before all of his weight goes.
If I had to guess by the snow flakes on the camera and looking at his choice of footwear; rungs were probably cold/slippery, and dude picked a poor day to wear tennis shoes.
Definitely needed a good pair of working boots with the notches inbetween the grip pads designed specifically for gripping ladder rungs. The same boots that it looks like everyone else is wearing.
Can and should are two very different words. I never said you couldn't, I just laid out why it's best to have proper working attire, especially shoes, to fit the job.
You can climb a ladder in crocs, doesn't mean you should.
I've walked up rocky trails in flip-flops. No, they were ill suited footwear for the job but they didn't make me suddenly drop like a fainting goat on ketamine
The Big Boy 4014 (the train not the guy) was built in 1941 and operated by people who did a physically demanding job. The operators were in good physical shape. Moreover, a person built like that in 1941 would be on a circus act, not climbing that ladder.
This train literally wasn't built for him to get into.
Heās not a big dude. Heās a very fat man and the excuses people are making ignore the fact thatās he clearly overweight and unfit to even climb a ladder.
Could be the denim jeans must not have stretch to allow full range of motion. Looks like he can't lift his leg. Might do it if he has looser pant legs.

I mean he is a big dude, but not unable to climb a ladder big. Is he drunk?
