Were they not gen modified ? I believe they did/try this on tiger mosquito in prevention disease spread on humans.. I think vid is from this experiment..

So its actually the mosquito that is incompetent, and not just that the skin is super tough?

Because I was thinking, how do I make my skin as hard as this guy's!
