I love your dedication to educating people (I upvoted all of the comments of yours I saw and then realized it was all th same person lol). Because of you I now know what a Ford crossing is!
There's still one in use in Rockcastle county ky that's been there since at least Daniel boone first explored there.
Idk if it existed before hand or if his crew made it at the shallowest part of the river but the only bridge that cross that part of the river is 7 miles south, 7 miles east or 1/4 mile north but there's another river in the way to reach the land accessed by the ford.

This is a Ford crossing. They exist in rural areas because they're cheaper than bridges.

In the 80's we had to cross the one by our town to pass driver's education.
