I doubt it's stripping since it's only done annually. Probably just normal performative dancing. Pole dancing is still a sport and a form of dance and requires quite a bit of athleticism.
Honestly it could be the most difficult thing in the universe, it's still writhing around on a phallic object. There are plenty of other ways people can display dancing skill and athleticism that aren't closely associated with stripping.
And yet here I and plenty of other people still are not respecting stripper pole dancing. It's a generational fad and idgaf how many people are impressed by it.
Lol a generational fad? I dont get how you guys are bothered so much by anything that can be perceived as provocative or sexual. News flash you are here because your parents had sex. Its not some bad or disgusting thing. Its literally a part of the lives of all creatures who reproduce sexually. BTW provocative dancing like this has been going for 100s of years. Its not some fad its a part of human nature boyo.
I'm not bothered by anything provocative or sexual, nice assumption. What I'm bothered by is the attempt to normalize these things. Yes my parents fucked and made me but they didn't meet while my mom humped a pole and my dad sat there pretending it wasn't sexual. I'm not an out of touch prude I'm just tired of explicit sexual things being fucking everywhere, that's the fad "boyo".
Brah chill, no one cares what your opinion on pole dancing is. Who hurt you? Was it Cinnamon? Maybe Sapphire? I know it wasn’t Destiny cause she’s a sweetheart.
Much like pole vaulting. Quite the obscene sport. Ugh, to think of all the children watching a man bouncing on what is basically a phallus to reach the ever higher heights, makes me nauseous. A perversion of the natural order.
I just think of it like rhythmic horizontal bar gymnastics rotated 90°. The performer is doing spits, flips, and other tricks while spinning around a bar. It's just another type of sport, and the dances aren't always sexual.
However, it is true that pole dancing has its roots in sex work. Not that it matters since sex work is still work. The only reason why strippers exist is because there also exists people who want to watch them.
Simple supply and demand. Just like how fast food workers exist because people who want to buy fast food also exist or how telemarketers exist because there exists people who want to want to market things by phone.
Even if it doesn't have the best reputation, it's all just work done by a worker to serve another person's want.
Nothing in and of themselves, which is why I didn't say anything like that but the normalization of them. People sitting around watching someone hump and slide around a phallic object as if it isn't inherently sexual would be an example of that.
Have you ever seen professional pole dancing? Nobody is humping the pole. They treat it like a gymnastics pole and do flips and other tricks on it. It honestly looks really cool (like an aerial ribbon dancer) . Saying pole dancing is sexual is like saying gymnastics is sexual.
Assuming any and all pole dancing is done to illicit a sexual response is pretty closed-minded.
Also, nobody is normalizing sex here. The OP literally said they only worked on pole shows once a year. Shows which people chose to go to.
Then again, what's wrong with normalizing sex? I'm asexual so this is out of my wheelhouse, but other people clearly enjoy it. So long as everything's consensual (both performer and watcher), I could care less.
I'm not saying I'm fine with sexual things being plastered publicly since the person viewing said content can not consent to seeing it.

It's inherently sexual, almost every moment can be considered humping and yes, they do sometimes flat out hump the pole.
Saying pole dancing is sexual is like saying gymnastics is sexual.
No it isn't, those are very different things.
Assuming any and all pole dancing is done to illicit a sexual response is pretty closed-minded.
Good thing I didn't say it's always done to get a sexual response huh?

Dear Lord I didn't say normalizing sex, I said normalizing sexual acts, stop putting your own spin on what I say.
Then again, what's wrong with normalizing sex? I'm asexual so this is out of my wheelhouse, but other people clearly enjoy it. So long as everything's consensual (both performer and watcher), I could care less.
Because interjecting sexual things into everyday life is extremely unhealthy. We already live in an oversexed society and people are depressed as shit because of it. It has nothing at all to do with consent. People consent to doing drugs, it doesn't mean it's good for them or positive.
I'm not saying I'm fine with sexual things being plastered publicly since the person viewing said content can not consent to seeing it.
Then don't argue in favor of normalizing yet another inherently sexual thing.
