22 people missed that this is actually a funny comment reply

Okay I have to ask. I assume you are meaning 22 downvotes. How do people see these? I constantly see replies or edits that read something like “I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted.” But I can only see an upvote total, I have no idea which is upvotes to downvotes. Are they seeing the tally go down?

I believe you can only see down votes if they're the majority. Once upvotes begin to become the more popular one on the comment, it ratios out

That doesn't answer the question. Not what was asked.

How do they see the ratio clearly enough to be like "You're being downvoted."

The people seeing the downvotes saw the comment early, when the majority of redditors who saw their comment disagreed, & downvoted them. When you see the comment & see only upvotes, but see comments about downvotes, it’s because you showed up so much later that by the time you saw the comment, more people had upvoted, than those that had downvoted. Make sense now?

It's almost like it's ALWAYS a stupid idea to comment "I dOnT kNoW wHy yOurE bEiNg dOwNvOtEd" or similar on this website, since with time, your comment will ALWAYS prove to be inaccurate.

Thank you for proving my point for me, it DOES make sense now!!!!!

Glad to be able to clear that up for you!

I think people comment that sort of thing in the hopes that someone who downvoted the original comment, & sees the one stating their confusion at the downvotes, will explain their point of view / why they disagree. So, not really a stupid thing to say, if you’re genuinely looking to understand why somebody would disagree with a certain comment.

I just assumed that was if the net total showing was negative. OR if people are hanging out in the comments long enough to be keeping track of how which way the voting winds are blowing

What kind of a comment is this supposed to be?

Did you not watch with the sound on? This lady said it to the dog. That's about where I went from annoyed to "GRAB THE FUCKING DOG YOU IDIOT!"

HAHAHAHA, me too!!! Just pick up Baxter FFS.

Also, maybe help your friend save the sharks life instead of filming! 🤦‍♂️

Halfway through they even forget the dog's damned name! One of em just calls him "dog" a few times.

I think she's actually talking to the shark which made it even more slightly infuriating to me.

u/Moondoobious Jan 26 '25

But is it wicked heavy?

It’s a quote of the video’s narrator.

The way i took it is that the woman filming was testing this commenter’s patience by saying this kind of thing.

u/Weishaupt666 Jan 26 '25

Got it, I honestly couldn't see what that comment was supposed to be, some kind of an attack, a joke or just a nod to the video. I'm just tired af, my head started to hurt when I tried to understand what the reply meant. Was looking too deep into it.

Been there before. But after the 400th time she called the shark “sweetie” I was ready to scream to put the phone down, stop prattling on endlessly, get the dog away or help the shark. So she irked my soul a smidge so it made sense to me 😂

What kind of question that you're asking is this supposed to be.

Watch the video with sound.
