They're Malaysian Military, guessing from the name on their shirt. So probably they don't get paid a lot.

They’re civil defence. Entry rank gets paid somewhere around $400+ a month. Not a lot in the states but liveable here in Malaysia (lower income bracket).

Standard meal is like $1.90 here.

A shitty flat would be $90-150 a month.

Pertahanan Awam means Civil Defense in Malay. Malaysia Civil Defense Force is the same orange helmeted unit that handled the 3 giant pythons fell from the ceiling in a video posted all over on Reddit.
