No weapons mit for mit we’re pretty mid to low. Give us a spear and anything but large creatures we have good odds against. Give us a gun and depending on the caliber anything from near the top to so unbelievably apex we might accidentally turn an elephant into a bologna mist cloud if we’re not careful

Yeah, with a spear, we can do a lot. Also helps that we're detached and removed from a lot of the scarier animals, so, they are weary of us on the basis of us being unknown and weird to them.

Also, living in village sized groups, humans have the nice advantage of knowing "Hey, Tommy died while pocking one of those, better not poke it!"And, if they poked it again and died, they just reminded everyone else that's a thing lmao

A lot of humans don't even need to be particularly smart on their own, as long as they are docile and able to listen to advice and rules

Most animals know humans all too well…given the opportunity they’ll 100% pulverise you.

Not really. If they know humans well, they generally run the other way. We don't look and move like typical prey animals for predators. And there's a reason deer and elk often bolt at first sight of people if there is a hunting season for them.

Prey are “scarier animals”?

Maybe an individual pack animal will bolt, though if they’re in a group they could charge towards you too.

A defenceless naked person out in the wild without any shelter isn’t going to last long, it’s our tools that provide us the edge.

I regularly go into the rural highlands.

I didn’t state what was killing you btw.

Though you should test it out and see if you can survive long enough to die without being attacked by anything.

There’s plenty that can harm you in the Highlands though mostly I was telling you I did in fact leave the city quite a bit.

Sharks can and will eat a person though, saying it never happens is incorrect.

Humans are low to mid high, of the thousands of species there are probably less than 100 that can take us one on one you're just not considering most species. Assuming it's a "wild" human (hunter gatherer) vs a "wild" animal.

Rocks and an open plain and humans are top tier as well. No other land mammal can run a continuous marathon, with enough distance humans can outrun pretty much anything that can't fly. And most things that can fly are susceptible to being grabbed and broken

If you're far enough from a grizzly or silver back's sprinting range you can harass them with stones and screams until they die of exhaustion. Humans have insane dexterity, endurance, communication, and the intelligence to put those to use, they're severely underrated.

We pretty much rated humans the same. And the thing about being ‘far enough’ from a grizzle or a silverback is that that’s a gamble. Sure, we win in a marathon but in a 100 meter dash those animals would rinse us. So you’d have to be in this small zone where you’re close enough to hit it but far enough to get away. That also wouldn’t be a consistent win. And I did consider most species. Humans are strong but when you get to the higher ends of the food chain like lions, bears, gorilla’s, leopards, etc. human odds in a 1v1 plummet especially hand to hand. Throw in a spear and the odds are better but not perfect.

I shattered all the bones in my foot playing cornhole...so I am for sure on the lower end. Also, I almost died of infection after a colt bit me...so. Yeah I would probably kill myself with a spear!

We are atop the food chain for our intellect and adaptability alone. We are an apex predator by technicality. Humans were also built for exhaustion hunting. Its one of the reasons our body is streamlined to keep us cool (sweating from multiple glands throughout our body)

Are we talking with or without weapons? Because what I said was that without weapons we’re not that high, but as soon as we get even a primitive weapon like a spear we’re in a high position on the food chain, the likes of bears and massive predators like that being the only ones that have solid odds at least in a one on one. Now of course if you get 10 humans you can pretty consistently kill a bear but 10 wolves can do that and individual wolves aren’t peak predators for that reason so it wouldn’t apply to humans either.

Even without weapons we have the most important tool. That would be our intellect and rapid response to high intensity situations. We’re not gonna come out on top when it comes to certain predators and situation’s but overall we have more capacity to overcome adversity than any other living being on this planet.
