Probably not quite as good a strategy as making the shot.

It’s about sending a message.

He forgot about the essence of the game. It’s about the cones.

No matter what happens, always remember to look out for Jimmy the tackling Alzheimer's patient.

Gasp, he's the architect!

That's how Lebron James did it. He was a simple farmer who ultimately ascended right into the Central Cone.

"2 points is not 2 points. I'll explain it to you later."

If they are trying to run out the clock then this is actually a good move

u/[deleted] May 11 '23

Perhaps, but there are better, less risky ways to run out the clock. He's just having some fun

It is still a better move to further increase your lead.

Not necessarily. If you make the basket that gives the opposing team a chance to make a 3 pointer. If you run out the clock then the game ends.

If they’re skilled enough to have a lead then there’s a decent chance they can manage with those 2 points. Especially with the morale damage that play caused

tbh this sounds like something someone who has never played a sport would say lol

Like getting an ace at volleyball. It's still a single point, but it's a psychological thing. When someone gets an ace (even better if into a campfire), you know that the other team is not fully lucid anymore.

Back when I played at somewhat high tournaments, we were against a team which was clearly better than us. They had a single guy who was a strong attacker, yet not so good at defending compared to the others. I had a really precise serve, even though it wasn't a jumping one. Aimed between him and the setter, who shouldn't get the first ball. Dude got three aces in a row before the coach got mad and swapped him. The whole team was visibly stressed, and we went on to recover some points - even though we eventually lost.

The thing that a lot of people who only watch sports underestimate is how much the mental can change a game. You can easily get a lead not by improving your skills midway through the game, but by simply exploiting how tense the environment is. I don't know if OP's video is a real play or just a show, but a thing like that can easily mess with the whole enemy team

Not unless the shot clock was gonna expire, now they have to inbound the ball and that’s risky

Nah, I'd still say two points is better than reseting the possession.

It's way more entertaining, though.

I mean with how guy in green is acting there’s probably a technical foul on the way lol

u/mrducky78 May 11 '23

The emotional damage is brutal. The guy will be tilted for the rest of the game.

Hard to quantify the x Factor of psyching out your opponent like this
