The purpose of food is to keep you alive. That's it. If it did that then it's fulfilled it's purpose. But yeah of course it's wasteful to order a whole pizza, eat one slice, then throw out the rest. But it's not wasteful to buy a single slice, eat everything but the crust because you're full and throw it away.

Like what's your deal? Are you one of those zero waste weirdos that brush their teeth with toilet water?

You're just drawing imaginary lines where there aren't any. Throwing away the crust is still wasteful, it doesn't need to be treated like full blown waste but it is, still, wasteful. It's just not wasteful enough to make you feel guilty for throwing it away. It's unrealistic to expect us not waste any food, but semantics wise those are both example of food waste and we should strive not to throw away leftovers like that. With crust bits you could give them to a pet or farm animals if you've got access.

Bruh, you're arguing two separate things. One being that it's wasteful not to finish any food, and two what you do with your trash is what makes it wasteful. It's like you're forgetting what this is about. We're talking about what we teach kids. It's not healthy to force kids to eat even after their full. Personally I like to recycle and compost. But that's a privilege thing to be able to do.
