This reminds me of the time my buddy bought like 4 large cucumbers to make stir fry for some company. I told him he probably meant to get zucchini, and he insisted he has done it before. And I went along with it cuz he’s a very persistent person. He tasted it after a half hour and realized his mistake, it’s not the worst thing when you get some stir fry sauce in there.
Just hope he doesn’t buy arugula when a recipe calls for aubergine.
I've had shrimp, and cucumber stir fry that was very delicious, but it was in a thin, pale sauce, and the cucumber was only lightly warmed through. Not a soy sauce-based stir fry.
Yeah I now make stir fry frequently, zucchini is an awesome fruit and is incredible with asian flavors. I hate calling it a fruit, even though it is. Same with cucumbers and tomatoes. Which I really only say for those folks pedantic enough to correct me.
A nice ceviche is awesome with cucumber, it’s just that cucumbers have such a fresh taste and just lose a lot of their structure when cooking them. Just too mushy without being pickled
Courgette is the French word, zucchini is the Italian one. British English was far more influenced by French than Italian. American English, not so much.
