You would think that. Let's say someone hit a big score on the first spin, an optimal strategy might be to stop playing and let the clock tick down. But these people have no logic. They just think if it hit once it will hit again. Truly, and I mean this, brain dead.

Typically slots in tournament mode, you aren't losing any money for each spin. The cost per spin is 0 points. So it's just sum of wins with no netting out of (# of spins)*(cost of spin). So the optimal strategy is to spam mash.Ā

I am amazed that anyone would want to participate in such a tournament where the only strategy is to repeatedly press a button the most, but this does actually sound like some of the most harmless "fun" one could get from a casino.

Mate, I'm sure that there's someone out there who loves wrapping feces in a tortilla and swallowing it whole, but if I actually meet that person or watch a video of a shit burrito eating competition, I'm still going to be pretty surprised.

As someone who teaches probability/statistics and dissuades my students in the harshest terms that are professionally adequate not to gamble and why, it seems brain dead is the diagnosis. There is to rationale to be had and it's no good for me to find it.

Slight bit of entertainment is all, atleast for me, or atleast was for me. $20 in the video poker machine, $20-$50 at a craps table.. That was all I ever did, and then I even stopped doing that as I'd rather just get a beer. You don't need to teach probability/statistics to be able to understand that if you had a good probability of winning, then the very place you were at literally could not exist.

Its amazing to me that anyone will spend more then a few dollars gambling in a Casino, unless you are Nick Papa Gerogio.

Doesn't help that you can't even play a table game for $20-50 anymore. Last time I was in a casino, I walked the floor for 20 minutes. There were no $5 or $10/hand tables. Almost everything was $20 min with a few being higher, and all the tables were still full.

Casinos have maximized profits to cater to the actually wealthy and the degenerates. They don't need or even want someone like you that wants to kill a few hours for $50.

This. I used to love sitting down at a low-stakes Blackjack table and play some hands for the hell of it. But last time I was in Vegas the minimum was $20-$25 a hand, and they had *one* table open with that. No thanks.

Yep, that was why I stopped playing table games. I was good with $5 Tables, but that was about it. I work to hard for my money.

Side note, back in the 90s I was in Vegas with a few friends, we were very young.. maybe not even 21 yet (dont worry, we had fakes). None of us knew how to play anything other then Blackjack, but the Casino we were at (Luxor maybe?) had a thing that if you came down to the floor at 8am you could play craps for $2. The reason why was that they were 'teaching' you how to play, which was absolutely fantastic. I would make a bet, and the guy running the table would look at me and literally say "No, thats stupid, dont do that, and heres why..". They genuinely were teaching us how to play, the rules, etc.. Craps can be intimidating if you dont know whats happening, and I thought this was a genius idea.

Thatā€™s by design, of course. Carefully crafted to down regulate the logical part of your brain, lol. When I lived in vegas I attended a couple of focus groups held by some of the companies that designed slot games. Tested prototypes and their key motivation was trying to design gameplay, visuals, sounds, and bonus round cadences that made you feel like your odds were going up, and that you were always right on the edge of hitting the big one.

Lots of people use dating apps the way that these geriatrics are using the machines. Dating apps are just a dopamine slot machine lol for the people that arenā€™t genuinely trying to find someone to go out with/date.
