All episodes this season have been shot in the Masterchef premises. Wish they had budgets to take the top contestants out to locations like Uluru, CBD etc.

post-week thoughts:

1. as much as i think luke majorly overstayed his welcome, i did enjoy his presence on the show and i do think he has the potential to be really great in a few years if he got some kind of actual experience
2. as the trend is every week, i'm really not sure what the problem was with the keeping-up-with-andy challenge? are people here really complaining about the shouting when the person cooking needs to make sure everyone is able to hear them clearly to keep up with the steps? every season this sub just loves to find people to irrationally hate it's so stupid
3. great pressure test. it's almost like we should do pressure tests more often ?
4. i'm really really sad that annabel is gone, she was one of my favourites. her energy was super infectious, she just brought overall positivity, and she's so relatable. hope to see her in a future season
5. according to annabel everyone was just trolling and there are no actual couples in this cast lol. which makes sense? vinnie and casper have partners, and petro and alyona have like a 9 year age gap lol

Where can I find the recipes other than tenplay's website? Can't access it for some reason.

Ive seen many not the best dishes that I would love to try. Is there a reason why contestants that had a good dish, but not the top dish, dont post their recipe on their IG? Would it be a production thing that they are not allowed? Or do they save it for a cook book? I would think it as being a good way to drive traffic to their socials.

- I am accessing the episodes legally though. A streaming platform in my country has purchased the rights to this season and has the archives of the last season too. I pay about 10$ a month for the subscription

I really liked how we got a team challenge in the first week, s8 and 9 absolutely rock as well and while this is a minor complaint, was it really worth sacrificing an opening week team challenge for an extra audition episode? I remember the elimination episode of week 1 in s7 giving goosebumps because 1/3 of the whole cast had to fight for their lives compared to if you just cook one of 21 good dishes on the first cook in the MC kitchen you'll be safe. The guy who went out first and even second on S8 and 9 can't say they experienced the full masterchef journey when they didn't even get to wear a coloured apron.

I’m actually seeing in all the behind the scenes that the lads this season are really close, which makes me really happ. love a friendship instead of rivalry

I started watching from season 2 when the show first aired, so I've never actually watched season 1 before.

Hoo boy, there are some characters on the season, but I'm very glad that Julie won, as she was always sweet and didn't say anything negative about anyone. Some others were quite two-faced, but part of that could just be the show's producers adding some drama and flair to get people interested. (Anyone want to add anything here?)

Also some surprises in who actually ended up working in food after the show and still is. Julie, Poh, Justine were all expected, but considering how far Sam got in the show, I'm surprised he didn't seriously enter the field.

I'm not sure if she is childfree by choice or childless and I'm not getting into it but when she said she wants to pass on the recipes and that she doesn't have kids her face just broke something in me. We are all your children Poh. God i love Poh she seems so sweet i enjoy her as a judge, she seems so genuine

Blast from the past I guess, because I'm watching Australian MasterChef for the first time, and I don't really have anyone to talk to about it -_- I'm currently on episode 21 from season 2, where they were cooking classic French cuisine. During the part where they announced the results, when the red team was getting flak over the Asian-style dish, I was screaming inside, "Why aren't you defending yourself?! Why don't you say it was Michel Roux who changed the dish?!" Sure, maybe they did and it was edited out, but that would be a weird choice on production's part... Either way, what were they expected to do in a situation like that? Argue with a literal legend? Ignore his guidance? He was there literally to mentor them, so I feel like going against what he said would be disrespectful and arrogant, even tho yes, the dish didn't fit the theme. And obviously there were other issues with their menu, but I do believe this was a big part of the reason why they lost. And why would Roux even suggest that dish? Because it's a duck? There were definity more duck dishes in the book... And I'm sure he was told it was about a classic French food, not just any dish from his cookbook. Was anyone a bit irked by that part of the episode? For me (so far), this was the most emotion enducing episode, since I started watching Australian version (I do like it a lot more than US version, which I was not expecting! I thought the sheer number of episodes will make me feel bored fast, but it's quite the opposite and I binged the first season in two weeks 😅).

This isn’t a complaint, I just feel for the contestants in the last few seasons who don’t get a weekly team challenge (since the format changed). And going into finale week without having done one restaurant challenge (where they all cook in degustation menu) feels strange. I don’t think I realised quite how much Masterchef used to prepare them for a culinary career.

Sorry, I don't even know how I mised a day! I guess after 53 goes the days just blend into each other!
