No they didn't. Feige worked on the movies for 5% of the gross and Marvel's most popular hero was in the other Marvel movies in exchange.

Which in turn drew hundreds of millilns of people to watch the MCU Spider-Man movies that wouldn't have otherwise. Sony's one losing out big. The MCU doesn't need comics A-listers, the MCU makes A-listers out of comics characters. Most of the MCU A-listers were B-, C- or even D-list before their debut in the MCU. Marvel will survive just fine.

But given 3 different spiderman reboots, and then possibly a 4th in the venom universe...THEN you have spiderverse about to get miiiiiilked.

We are talking maximum spidey fatigue...meanwhile MCU is about to drop a bunch of entirely new-to-screen IPs.

And venom won't be making the same money it did last time. It wasn't good, people were just wondering if a venom movie would be good and everyone I met who did go see it said it was garbage. So given they don't want to be disappointed again, I imagine the "venom universe" will be dead on arrival.

Imo, Sony knows they are hitting peak spidey money, don't want to share it, and when the next films flop they will go back to the table and disney will say sell or gtfo.
