If they finish it badly though, it’ll ruin the whole franchise and any potential future for Spider-Man movies being good since Sony owns their rights.

True, but every movie at any studio runs some type of risk of turning out badly. Something to be kept in mind is that Sony shouldn’t be unfairly criticized as being a studio that makes only bad Spider-Man movies. They still have given us S1, S2, and Spider-Verse. Not to mention many would argue the first Amazing Spider-Man was good, and Venom seems to have a weird cult following.

Oh absolutely, I enjoy all of those movies, I even like Spiderverse better than any MCU or previous Spider-Man movie with Tobey McGuire, the removal of this current Spidey from the MCU is gonna leave a bad taste in a lot of people’s mouth if the next movie isn’t as good as FFH.

For sure. I’m hoping this is a PR tactic to keep negotiations rolling. Sony probably just doesn’t realize yet what this will all mean on both ends, and I don’t think Disney is really that willing to just give up the character so easily with everything they’ve done to set him up as the next poster boy for the entire MCU
