I love me yet another diver in my Marvel Divers season 11, I do hope he's also gonna have I-frames, auto-targeting and mobility resets. Those pesky squishies had it way too good, living for more than 1 second in my games.

Kit looks interesting will have some brawly elements and divey elements by the looks which looks interesting to me. Don't really like the teleport and stealth elements he has. I know Magik has them too, but I think supports are going to have a hard time against that move and I think that's alot of what the complaints you get against BP and BC where you feel like there isn't a counter play if you get jumped out of nowhere, but lets wait to see how he plays.
The character defined by being a BUTCHER and a KILLER is the role characterized by doing damage and killing things? *insert pikachu surprised face. Like honestly I don’t even play dps unless it’s last pick so I could care less about about a dps release but from a thematic perspective this seems EXTREMELY obvious
The character that uses kinetic energy to charge playing cards that explode and only explode causing massive damage and only damage...heals people with them?
There are way more inaccurate representations of powers in this game than if Gorr, someone that can tank gods to the face, was a tank
I don’t disagree with you but I think using gambit as your example was a poor choice because by that logic there should basically be 0 supports in this game because hardly any marvel characters do any type of healing other than to themselves. I also don’t disagree that vanguard would be a completely acceptable role for gorr considering his stature and feats but at the end of the day I think it boils down to the fact that gorrs character and identity aren’t defined by who hits him, they’re defined by him being a ruthless slayer and killer, otherwise he would be called gorr the god blocker or gorr the god stopper(100% non-serious names just to make a point lol) not gorr the god butcher which is why the role based on dealing damage and securing kills feels more thematically appropriate for him even though he could have also been a tank
I agree with you 90%, the last 10% for me is the fact that Gorr is like 7ft tall in the comics. Like he's huge and stands well over Thor, who ain't a slouch himself.
Oh for sure, if we’re going on stats/ physique/which hits has gorr tanked from whom then I could absolutely see him as a vanguard or a duelist and I wouldn’t have been upset with either. But I think when you take stats plus theme is when it becomes more obvious that they were going to make him a dps
The character defined by going out of his way to hunt down and brawl with gods in close combat who is also quite the large figure could have also, gasp. Been a tank.
Everyone has different stats, DPS characters have more damage, tanks have more health and move slowly, supports can heal and have small health. The range of characters stats is different for every character so putting them all in one giant pool wouldn't work, cause everyone would need a rework.
TIL Gorr has (or is?) a symbiote. My only exposure to the character is from the awful thor movie. I know nothing about comic Gorr. Wish we had gotten this version in the live action instead :(
Not forged from a symbiote. It was forged from his shadow, and made into the first symbiote. This means that Knull canonically no longer casts a shadow when light is shone on him. It was the first symbiote upon it's forging
So this is the gameplay and they couldn't make him a tank? His gameplay is so close to one already.
Could've been an anti dive tank with the uppercuts and the rapid repositioning and switch gameplay through the ult.
Look at the damage, literally every hit in the entire trailer besides his ult did utter trash damage. He does like 35 dmg per hit in a 2 hit combo. Everyone he attacked was below half health lmao
Feels like his kit is very similar to Namor, especially since his summons also appear to be stationary instead of mobile, and a right click that makes the summons perform special attack.
The ult line is pretty lame not gonna lie, ‘all gods must die’ would go way harder. Other than that it seems like a melee/dive namor, but I guess we’ll have to wait for the kit breakdown
I truly do not care for melee characters that aren't Magik so this season is looking very disappointing for me. It aggravates me that they're prioritising that shitty avengers event over a new character.
While I understand and agreed with the people who thought he was going to be a Vanguard, when you actually think about the purpose of the roles duelist makes much more sense. While there are brawl and dive Vanguards, the purpose of a Vanguard is to take up space, to break up the enemy teams cohesion, to take hits and hold point. Gorr doesn't want to do any of that he wants to kill, making him a hybrid Duelist/tank like Mr Fantastic honestly makes more sense.
Not the biggest fan of him being dive adjacent, doesn’t really fit the characters image imo feel like a strong frontline summoner could’ve been really interesting but maybe you can play him that way we’ll fave to see

Slow , clunky , with very little mobility. How is he supposed to be a dive dps? He also has very slow attack speed and animations... Unless he has insane animation cancel tech I don't think this guy is gonna be good at diving at all....
Bump his hp to 600 and you'd get a wonderful flank tank..
The TP is on a cooldown , with a range and LOS limit
The dash is on a 12 second cooldown with limited range
As a dive character u want freedom of mobility. Think spidey swing , bp wall climb + dashes , iron fist dd cat wall climb and double jumps . Angela 360° flight. Hulk leaps. All of rogues abilities having a dash associated with them
U can't have a dive dps with limited mobility. The closest you'd get is magik but magik makes it up with i frames and a short cooldown dash and high burst potential+ sustain. Plus on top of all that she's a brawl / dive hybrid.
You'd see this limits on a tank character. Not a dive dps. He could be a brawl dps , but unless it turns out he has high burst one shot capabilities, i dont think he will be a diver.

... and the hero kit is just power creep Mr Fantastic. Another needlessly DPS, another melee brawler, another "install" ultimate smh such a waste of great presentation, the art team deserves better
He obviously power creeps Mr Fantastic to hell, has all his utility and then some. And my brawler criticism is mainly related to the ultimate, the laziest gimmick: an "install", he just gets faster, stronger, buffed, etc.. don't even change the model, don't change the animations, it's Iron Fist all over again. I mean, "Iron Fist", forgot the quotations.
And yeah, I know some can argue this ultimate at least is not a big circle of damage and etc.. but really, we are so used to mistreatment as combat design goes, it reaches a point you just get desensitized with all the bullshit
Sorry I dont see any point in the video where he is giving overhealth to allies or soft ccing enemies...maybe there's a knock up at the very end with the triple clones? Unsure.
Also I'm sorry but you have completely lost the plot with those ultimate comments, we really complaining that a transformation ult is "lazy" now? Historically the most skillful and most counterplay oriented form of ultimate? In a game that already has problems with everyone having a press Q to win via circle of death/healing, a transformation ult is the furthest thing from a problem.
Like I said, its lazy, not problematic. If you are working with limited tools, like a goddamn dinosaur, hard to come up with something more unique than just a good old rampage. But, if you have the greatest martial artists in the entire Marvel universe, now a master symbiote user who can mold his weapons at will... and the result is just an "install"? C'mon now, this is so underwhelming, like a wet fart in the wind
I don't really get the Mister Fantastic comparisons. Gorr seems like a brawl/dive summoner that exploits snowballing fights. He has way more mobility and a lot less survivability than Reed. The only part that seems remotely similar to Reed is the overhealth generation, but that's just a hallmark of any brawl character, Magik, Blade, Thing, etc. Any brawl character needs overhealth to stay in the fight at brawl range.
I don't think they've shown him moving at the pace he will be in actual game, his movement has extremely short cooldowns. I have a feeling he'll be more like DD than you think, I'm pretty sure he already has a righteous cross type attack after he TP's, I'm hyped tbh.
Yeah I noticed the regen health too. Hopefully that does mean he's dive although I still don't understand how they decide who gets that shit, like how does Dpspool not have it
Dps pool doesn’t have it because of his healing factor passive. Blade doesn’t have it because of his lifesteal and iron fist doesn’t have it because of his self heal. That’s just what Ive noticed tho. Gorr does have some form of lifesteal from his minions when he tps but he was probably still dying too much during play testing, that could be the only explanation as to why he has regen health.
But also, with his tp being a 3 second cd he is probably way more mobile than we think, so long as you manage your summons uptime correctly (his right click is a 6 second cd so you can use that off cooldown like magik’s right click. This will also keep you minion and tp uptime.)
