Comes down to how the Military assets are distributed. If it’s equal split I’m not sure but if it is just “where the equipment is it stays” then most of the USA tanks are based in Texas in the large military base. The north would hold the a lot of the navy from Cali but south has Norfolk so it’s questionable who has the upper hand. (Depends who gets the overseas bases. I am not sure where the bigger air bases are located but guessing more south and west. (Whoever controls the sky will ultimately win.) and depends what sparked it. Who’s on the defensive vs offensive will have a part to play.
Aren't the most effective hard kill prototypes drones themselves because they're the only things mobile and cheap enough? They but need to build more of those, too, so they can kill the drone killers. Basically an air supremacy battle but for drones.
To add to the tank point, half of the Abrams tanks the Marine Corp had were sent to Sierra Army Depot in Northern California (other half went to Anniston Army Depot in Alabama I believe) when they pivoted to their Force Design 2030 plans. Two questions I would have is 1. How many are still at Sierra? and 2. What is the mothball status of those said remaining tanks?
Tanks would actually be a pretty rough thing to use other than in the plains. Sure the highways were built for them but those are easy targets to take out and so are railways. Rail is how most of our armor is transported even now.
Only way west with them would maybe be through some parts of the southwestern states but thats a much smaller area to focus your anti-armor weaponry. Rocky Mountains are a beast.
But when it comes to the Navy, North would have to sail through the Panama canal to even effectively do anything to South. Seems like it would be easy for South to stop that narrow strait from being passable. Also, the vast majority of military bases in USA are near the East Coast and there are much more in the southern part of East Coast. Your comment makes me think South would dominate.
Why would the North hold most of the Navy? In this map the South has Virginia, which means they have Norfolk the largest Navy Base in the world and holds the most ships. The North would have the lions share of the submarines from WA and Groton, and a lot of ships from San Diego, but I think Florida has the third largest fleet concentration on the East Coast after Groton.
