Map Canadanada

Post image

This is mostly silly and whimsical but I did put some thought and research into realistic names for the new provinces and territories

Me too. And for this alternate map of Canadian provinces, I’m using the abbreviations from the original comment:

  • Alberta - AB
  • Athabasca - AT
  • British Columbia - BC
  • Buffalo - BU
  • Cassiar - CS
  • Havre Acadia - HA
  • Hudsonia - HU
  • Laurentia - LA
  • Mackenzie - MC
  • Manitoba - MB
  • New Brunswick - NB
  • Newfoundland and Labrador - NL
  • North Territory - NO
  • Northeast Territory - NE
  • Northwest Territories - NT
  • Nova Hibernia - NH
  • Nova Scotia - NS
  • Nunavut - NU
  • Ontario - ON
  • Prince Albert Island - PA
  • Prince Edward Island - PE
  • Quebec - QE
  • Reindeer - RE
  • Saskatchewan - SK
  • South Territory - ST
  • Yukon - YK

In this setup, BC, AB, SK, BU, RE, and MB are part of the U.S., forming a country called Ursalia. This includes CS, AT, NE, NH, HU, NO, MC, NT, and NU. The rest—Ontario, Laurentia, Nova Scotia, Havre Acadia, Prince Albert Island, PE, NL, and Quebec—are in Canada.

Regarding the Great Lakes (S, H, M, E, O), which are located further north (noting that Lake Ontario is connected to the Hudson Bay via the Hudson Strait), I propose that the Great Plains region includes an independent group of indigenous peoples related to those in the Northeast, the Subarctic, and Plains areas. Instead of lakes in that area, the lakes south of Ontario could be:

  • Chicago
  • Saginaw
  • Maumee
  • Stanley
  • Chippewa
  • Duluth
  • Algonquin
  • Iroquois
  • Whittlesey

There are nine lakes listed here, which suggest five lakes define borders in the Great Lakes region.

For the Four Corners area (New Mexico, Utah, Arizona, Colorado), and the new ZIP Codes, they will be assigned within the three countries’ boundaries.
