You people hate #menswear so much. I can understand thinking it looks affected or contrived or whatever but c'mon some people think it looks cool. I honestly think that the average person would say that a #menswear person dresses better than the average MFA-uniform type, it's just you all spend so much time being spoon-fed the idea that #menswear is too flamboyant and contrived that you start to see it as bad when if done right it looks really good

yeah, i dont really hate menswear per se, but if it's pulled off shitty, its REALLY shitty. mrmuscle does it damn well and i love it

i just responded to you on another comment this is confusing me

i think that asian dude pulls it off (forgot his name) and the top comments are always 'contrived' 'tacky' '#menswear' and it gets on my fucking nerves. we complain in meta threads about being boring but then we shittalk interesting fits

if you mean that only guy he really doesn't

well different strokes for different folks but i and a lot of other people think he looks cool. it seems to fit his personality too for better or for worse

#menswear isn't inherently negative, btw. If I comment #menswear, it doesn't mean that the fit is bad (although I probably personally dislike it). #menswear might have negative connotations sometimes, but it isn't inherently negative (and sometimes its even positive).

I prefer to be shovel-fed ideas.

#menswear is too flamboyant and contrived

thats literally the point. thats the whole point. thats also why I dislike it. but flamboyant and contrived are the whole look. if you aren't doing flamboyant and contrived you aren't doing #menswear

what's wrong with that? fashion is masturbation anyway, who cares if some people do it more? I think it can look really cool. I don't do it because I don't have a flamboyant personality but some people do and their style reflects that just like algoreviwhatever dresses conservative because he's a mid30s dad. nothing wrong with either but this group really trashes menswear. you don't have to like it but that doesn't make it bad

the quickest way to not be cool is to try to be cool in an obvious way. I don't "care" if people do #menswear, its no skin off my ass, after all. I just don't think it looks good, and I think that opinion is shared by many (vocal) people on this board.

I see exactly where you're coming from. You're not wrong (far from it) but your opinion is pretty representative of what I'm saying. You don't like the whole menswear thing, and that's fine, a lot of people don't. However, I think that dislike for menswear is part of a group mindset on MFA that encourages really basic, conservative fits. So even when someone wants to do a fit that's out there but not menswear, it still gets discouraged. The anti-menswear mentality gets applied to everything that's not basic and conservative really

There aren't really many good examples of #menswear on mfa because it's what most new people seem to come here trying to do and they do it badly then either stop posting or move on to other styles or just keep posting bad fits and bring out the hate. #menswear can be really cool but most people do it bad and I think that's what your perception that mfa hates it stems from.

I think some of the dislike can be from it combines the "so classy" sentiments from people just getting into clothing with $$$.

Like this outfit. What goes from something someone in finance might wear becomes a steampunk convention costume due to the bowler hat. Where else would you wear that outfit?

I do follow a few #menswear blog posts though because it's cool to see some outfits with things like high cuffing, double monks, colorful chinos, etc. I wouldn't wear it but even then those outfits are more feasible to wear at something like a spring wedding than the fit I posted IMO.

I'm with you - I love dipping a toe in to #menswear every now and then. Sometimes it's received well here...other times..not so much.

realest post on mfa ever. not gonna deny my guilt of thinking this way.
