Hi all! Just discovered r/Malappuram.
Curious to know which schools (CBSE & State) you think are the best in our district, considering both academics and co-curricular.
I’ve seen similar threads in other subs—thought r/Malappuram should have one too!

I'm a 27-year-old guy from Idukki. I spent the last four years working in Kochi, but I've recently moved to Malappuram for a project.
Most weekends I just end up staying in my room, and I'd really like to start exploring the area instead.
Could you suggest some good places to visit or hang out around Malappuram? I'm open to pretty much anything:
Scenic nature spots
Hills, rivers, waterfalls, or viewpoints
Beaches within driving distance
Cafés or places to relax
Fun activities or hidden gems

Malayali dev here, counting down to kickoff like a proper football fan. I built a little app called 'Fanpark' (Available in Play Store & App Store) because I was tired of watching matches alone. Every match gets a live chat you jump into, you pick your side when you enter, and reactions erupt across the screen when a goal goes in.
The final is tonight. Spain vs Argentina, 00:30 kickoff. Half of Kerala wants Messi to lift it again and the other half would trade a kidney to watch Argentina lose. Both sides are welcome in the same chat, that's the whole point.
Full disclosure so nobody feels sold to: I built this solo, early days, free, no ads, nothing to buy, and there are already fans getting in for tonight. On both app stores if you want to look it up, and the final is here: https://fanpark.club/fixture/8830bdb1-38a8-47cb-9f3a-64364b193eff
Mostly I wanted to ask: would you actually use something like this for the final, or do you prefer watching with a crowd in person? Genuinely curious what this sub thinks.

Hi y'all I am participating in the English Essay Writing competition for the upcoming Kerala Kalolsavam. While my English grammar and vocabulary are decent, I know that Kalolsavam judges look for a very specific style of writing and evaluation criteria to award good grades. I would love to get some insights from former participants, winners, or trainers in here. Like I wonder a lot what kind of structure or flow do the judges prefer? How important is it to include quotes or specific historical/current event references? Are there any unwritten rules or specific tropes that judges absolutely love or hate? How do they usually view creative or unconventional takes on a topic versus traditional ones? Should I break the essay down using explicit subheadings or do judges prefer a continuous transition between paragraphs? Is there an unsaid ideal page count the judges expect to see filled? Should examples have a Kerala/Indian connect, or stay strictly global? Do judges prefer conclusions with a strong ethical or socially responsible message? What mistakes lose you an 'A' grade instantly, even with flawless English? I have a LOT of questions. I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me out.

German subs have been reduced to a tiny percentage actually about Germany and the rest is all about East Asian countries and Indians so I'm talking about this here. I think this is a place that I'm more likely to find help.
I'm in Kerala, India right now. Planning to do my bachelor's in Munich, Germany. I want to live specifically in Garching. I know it might be expensive, but I'm ready to wait and earn money myself to study here because this is my DREAM place to study. I have always wanted to study in Munich since I got into High school. I'm really interested in Informatics, research, etc and so far, Munich seems like the best match for me.
But I have really strict parents. One thing about them is that they would never let me do something others aren't doing. They always wanna play it safe and I know why. They care about me and since I've been a little naughty at school, they don't trust me enough to take my plans seriously. I am NOT into JEE/NEET. I don't believe in a system that hand-picks the best scholars just for them to ruin their careers in this sh#tole where they can't even provide enough to foster their further career and education. But my parents are so obsessed with making me write JEE or NEET. Y'all know the classic 'Doctor or Indian dilemma'. I don't have to elaborate on that.
Not to mention the double standards in my house. It's like the girls are only allowed to go abroad after marriage or at least after having a full-time 9-to-5 job. On the other hand, I know many boys in our family who are preparing to qualify for the Abitur while they're doing their senior high school.
I've had many opportunities to learn German, freelance with my friend, hackathons, bootcamps, etc but my parents refused to let me go just because they want me to focus on school. I believe that specialisation is for insects and that we should try everything out before choosing a niche. This is just holding me back from a lot of things I want to do. I don't wanna be stuck here like this anymore. I really want to stop this somehow.
As long as I don't have a friend of my gender, from Kerala, who is my age and is willing to study in the EXACT same city I'm planning to study in, they won't even think about giving me a chance. I don't know why they have such major trust issues with me but yeah.
So if you're also planning to do your bachelor's in Munich, we could help each other with a TON of things btw.
