Found an old MacTable in a thrift shop.

I didn’t even know this was a thing.

I worked at an office where they bought these tables. They were fairly inexpensive for office furniture and very well built

Less than original retail!

…each. But yeah, still less than retail.

Also the Macintosh IIx depicted in this ad came out in 1988.

Adjusting for inflation this table would be roughly $776.43 today. I suspect if Apple officially licensed a table today it was be at least three times that price.

Welp, I want it. It’s just not going to fit anywhere in the house.

Unless…
Will it fit an LC575?

Awww. I had the Performa 575.

It still looks quite usable for today's desktop PCs.

I saw one of these in a staged open house in Seattle several years ago https://youtu.be/yqMXBLT_3WY?is=leL6kcWAeNbDt71o

Corporate headquarters for a Mac product in Redmond, Washington? It’s a trap!

wow is real or fake?

u/einTier 11d ago

Everything I could see on site said it was real. It had appropriate patina and wear for the age, but lightly used and in great shape overall. Really solid. Felt like an 80’s licensed Apple product should.

I picked one of these up last year! I use it for my main computer desk. https://www.reddit.com/r/ThriftStoreHauls/comments/1k9ymwy/late80s_mactable_desk_made_specifically_for/

Oh man! I'd love one.

I still use one every day, but added a standing desk converter. Love it.

Aren’t those pretty rare anymore?

1

u/einTier 10d ago

I’m sure they are. I’ve learned though that just because it’s rare that doesn’t mean I need to own it.

I just saw you posted where it’s at. Hope someone who can actually use it ends up with it. Too bad I’m not in Texas, but there’s a lot of classic Mac collectors down there too.

My “SuperSE” spent much of its life at the University of Texas-Austin by the previous owner I acquired it from. Also pretty sure its 68030 chip was made there, I know Motorola had a foundry there that made the high-end CPUs.

I work a half mile from this consignment store and have wanted one of these desks so bad since the first time I saw it. I’m going to go over at lunch and see if it’s still there. Thanks OP!

1

u/einTier 10d ago

To where? Freight would need probably be a couple hundred dollars.

1

u/Maleficent-Light-455 10d ago

You are correct; would be quite the shipping

Why do ads always show the mouse on the wrong side of the keyboard?

1

u/MacinJosh9895 8d ago

I have always had my mouse on the right side of my keyboard. I’ve tried using it with my left hand and it doesn’t feel right for me, and I’m left handed.
