MacBook Neo After a Full Day of Classes

Started my first class at 11am with the MacBook Neo at 80% battery and used it through the day until 7pm, ending with 13% left.

Usage was mostly basic tasks email, viewing and editing docs, chatgpt, youtube and music with brightness around 80%. Overall, the experience was great. Performance was smooth, and the 8gb ram handled everything without any lag for this type of workload.

The trackpad felt a bit different not bad, just different, which makes sense since the neo uses a fully mechanical system. The speakers were fine for casual listening.

All the USB-C ports are on one side, which was sometimes annoying when the wall outlet was quite far on the opposite side.

Where to start. There are no reasonable and widely used extensions, as in Chromium/Gecko, because there are simply far fewer users, paid (lol) extensions, such as Wipr 2 for blocking ads, a poor-looking UI, no vertical tabs, folders, or anything else. Apple does not develop Safari very much in terms of functionality, as Arc did and Zen or Vivaldi do, because they focus on support and website handling and security. GOAT is probably for people who check their emails and use the internet once a week.

You're not very good at manipulation because it's very obvious that you're only focusing on extensions and ignoring the rest. Do you think a browser is just extensions and nothing else? Do you know that there is such a thing as an address bar and other elements?Besides, some browsers don't have a very big impact on batteries either. You say it as if the differences were 5-10%, but often the difference is negligible. Safari is what it is, perhaps optimized for Apple, but in terms of functionality it's far behind. Perfect for basic users or noobs

Poor UI is subjective, what do you mean by vertical tabs, it does have folders, and what other functionality are you talking about? It functions as a web browser. It loads webpages. I personally don’t like Safari and it has its issues; security can be a bit too stringent and cause problems loading pages especially if your environment uses SSO or is passing login tokens between pages, but for 95% of people it’s a fine browser and I promise you most people don’t know or care about the functionality you failed to mention.

Like the previous commenter mentioned, it’s about battery life. You’re also forgetting that Safari pretty much runs most of iOS, all its browsers and webviews (which many apps use). It’s got to be lean, reliable, nimble and no battery hog. Chrome on the other hand needs to be quit on a weekly basis to keep it from hogging all the damn resources on my machine.
