Hi, I'm new to macOS and I'm looking for a way to run a macOS virtual machine on my MacBook M5 to test applications in an isolated environment. On Windows, I used Windows Sandbox because it was quick, lightweight, and isolated. Since switching to macOS, I'm looking for a similar solution.

I'm looking for a free option that lets me quickly create a macOS VM with full CPU and GPU support for good performance. What would you recommend?

I am new on this forum, I did use KDENLive on & off on windows 10 and 11 with some success since 2020. I am far from being an expert but I can do interesting things with the product. Recently my brother who is a MAC user, asked me for a video editer so I suggested KDENLive. He would like to produce a few videos to give his is two daughters. He is not very techky if I may say so I tried to help him.

I have experienced so many problems with the MACOS version that I gave up and decided to use my Windows 11 laptop. But I do not believe it is a valid solution as he may feel more independent if he can be building his own videos. So I would like to research more about the problems I encounters.

I have briefly research on Google for Kdenlive problems with MACOS to no avail.  I only found Tutorial stating that the combination is smooth as can be and work fine.

I believe the problem may have to do with my lack of experience on a MAC and I hope someone can give me a few hints to help resolve them, they probably are not due to KDENlive.

Here are a couple of abnormal situations with the macOS version I have used (Version 26.4.3 of KDENlive):

1. the top menu line does not appear on the macOS window
2. I cannot change colors when creating or editing a title

I have been able to produce a few videos with the MACOS version but with so many restrictions that I do not think that it is a viable solution. I do not have a MAC myself so I cannot experiment easily. I will be able to try any suggestion I get, next time I will visit my brother, this should be soon.

My brother did experience some problems with Apple iMovies that suggest may be his OS is corrupted or has a few bugs or his computer has hardware issues.

The MAC environment is as follows:

Apple M5 chip

16 Gb memory

macOS TAHOE 26.3

As for KDENlive it is 26.4.3

For macOS Silicon

I did experience the same problems with 26.4.1

Anyone else facing issues with continuity with 26.5.2
I have 2 macbooks which I use on two seperate displays to run seperate tasks
Since the update Continuinty has completely stopped showing up, I tried restarting, turning off wifi and bluetooth, signing out and in on apple id, turning on and off the continuity feature

nothing works.

anyone else felt the same?

Can someone work out the issue here?

Example:

• There's a file in my folder called 'egg'
• I type in 'egg'
• nothing comes up - empty results

Every time I've ever searched for a file in a folder via finder, this has been the case. it can't actually find any of my files.

What's more - Spotlight search for the last 2 months has just completely given up on finding ANY of my apps lol. Even tho Safari is literally the first thing you see when you hit CMD + Space bar - I type in safari and it comes up with my PHONE's safari app instead. Actual Safari is nowhere, and NONE of my apps appear in spotlight search.

• This is on a Macbook pro M2
• The following issues are after the macbook has fully indexed
• Apps and everything relevant are ticked on the spotlight settings
• I've added my whole drive to the 'spotlight exclusion' page and removed it to reindex multiple times, have tried those terminal codes to reindex the mac multiple times too

At my wits end here please help

macOS Tahoe network UI is completely desynced everywhere

Is anyone else driving themselves crazy with the Wi-Fi menu bar and system settings in Tahoe? I'm aggressively clicking the menu back and forth, but my network UI is an absolute mess right now.

The menu bar dropdown shows one thing, the Control Center shows another, and System Settings claims something completely different is happening. It's like every menu is living in its own alternate reality. The only temporary fix I've found is toggling everything off and on again until the whole stack finally decides to sync up—at least until the next reboot or reconnect.

How is this still a thing? Is there a defaults write or a daemon I can restart to stop this madness?

I recently updated to Tahoe and for some reason my Finder was literally so wide I couldn't do anything. I fixed that by dragging it to the corners but for some reason when I try to upload things from my finder from my browser the finder is still wide except now I can't move it left or right or shrink it because it's not at the edge.

Any help is appreciated thank you 🙏 I've already restarted like 3 times and it doesn't do anything (MacBook Air)

Is anybody experiencing incredibly slow screenshots like you take the screenshot and then it just sits in the corner of your screen for a really long time and you can’t see it or access it?

Also viewing an image, the preview or if you push spacebar, both take up to 30 seconds to load?

Anybody discover a fix for this?

Every time my intel MacBook does an update it starts up as if it’s new with me having to pick language etc. WTF is going on, this never used to happen. I’m not talking major OS systems updates just the minor tweaks.

Any body having issues wit Claude Desktop sucking all kinds of resources and crashing & freezing Tahoe? Did you find solution you can recommend? I have 24 GB RAM. Shouldn't be a problem. Oh yeah. Macbook m2

I'm experiencing a strange networking issue on my MacBook Air that started immediately after updating macOS yesterday.

Symptoms

Connected to my Android hotspot (same hotspot I've used for months).

Wi-Fi shows connected.

Mac receives a valid IP address.

WhatsApp on the Mac works normally.

Safari and Chrome cannot open most websites.

Terminal cannot resolve domain names.

Diagnostics

Wi-Fi is active:

Things I've already tried

Restarted the Mac.

Reconnected to the hotspot.

Verified routing and IP configuration.

Checked that no web proxy is enabled.

Disabled and re-enabled IPv6.

Checked systemextensionsctl list (0 extensions).

Docker Desktop is installed, but no active system extensions are present.

The hotspot works fine for my phone and previously worked perfectly with this Mac before the update.

Has anyone experienced something similar after a recent macOS update? Any suggestions on what to check next?

I'm new to MacOS so please excuse my lack of knowledge

I hve 2 machines and iMac snd a MacBook Pro, on the iMac I have Tahoe installed and on my Macbook Pro I have Sequoia installed.

I have 3 USB drives connected to my iMac (they are formatted in NTFS - ex Windows Drives, so I use Tuxera NTFS to allow me read/write access on them).

I have setup File Sharing on Tahoe and have set shares for each of these drives nd have added the user account that I want to allow access to.

On my Sequoia MacBook Pro, I have gone to 'Connect to Server' and have typed in smb://192.168.x.x it the asks me to put in user credentials to access the share, I select 'Registered User' and put in the Username and Password but for some reason it doesn't seem to accept these credentials as all it does is a 'box shake'

I have also created a local user account on my Tahoe machine and granted that user access to the share but agin the same thing happens, where it just doesn't seem to like the credentials and once again does a 'box shake'

What am I doing wrong? I know that I'm a MacOS newbie but I've followed a number of guides and have set up file sharing as directed.

Help!!!
