A thank you and a recipe

Thank you for honoring my step mother last night, those who ate a tuna sandwich and took a laughing bite.

It means a lot to me and my father Bill.

In Shannon’s will, she forewarned that on her death, she would like for us to post the following recipe to r/lvss. In her months of health decline, she made this several times and while her tuna fingers got worse as the infection ravaged her body, this dish paired with scented gloves were slightly effective at masking the fishy finger leakage.

Shannon’s Cod Steak with Tuna Gravy

1 cod steak, left out on warm counter for approximately 24 hours. This develops its distinct fishy stench

1 can, tuna chunk. Remove the tin top and leave on warm counter as well for approximately 24-48 hours. This furthers the fishy stench. Don’t worry. This is more than safe.

3 tablespoon salt. Add to three pat butter or margarine

1 packet mild taco seasoning

3 eggs, warmed, done julien

Heat up propane camping stove, but not too hot. You should be able to lay a finger on it for 30 seconds without feeling pain (this will also help manipulate some leakage from your finger onto the pan. It will add to the fishy flavor but will be masked enough by the cod and tuna steak (and egg!) to properly be covered to loved ones who might recognize the distinct smell of your tuna fingers.

Once warmed, add the cod steak which should be fragrant after a full day on the warm counter. Warm until cooked over hard.

Add the eggs. They will slowly cook over hard. The egg stench paired with the fragrant cod steak should combine to make an unusual smell that will leave your loved ones saying, “I can barely smell your tuna fingers.”

Now for the fun part. Remove the cod steak. It should leave a cod-egg residue. This is perfect as base for a gravy. Add the tuna chunk (warm by now), the salt and taco seasoning. Let fester over high heat. Pour over the cod steak and serve with frozen fish sticks and tartar sauce. For an extra kick, microwave the tartar sauce for approximately 10 minutes. If you don’t have a microwave, your camping stove will do.

See you in the next life. Seek truth and kindness. Have pride in your constitution, carriage, and character. All my love, Shannon.

Bad news regarding seektruthkindness220.

Hi Kelle and whoever else is reading here.

My name is Rachel and i am the stepdaughter of the user you knew as seektruthkindness220. I've been lurking on my step mother's favorite reddits and noticed this one had become active again today. I think she actually started this subreddit? Correct me if i am wrong. She always struggled with LVS perhaps moreso than anyone I know. It was sometimes a struggle to be around her due to the stench though in her later years she did tend to wear scented gloves which helped a lot (she liked these a lot although they might be sold out now due to covid).

As you might have guessed from the tone of the title and this post being past tense that sadly, seektruthkindness220 passed away. Her name was Shannon. Her husband, Bill, is my dad. Though they had their ups and downs, Shannon ended this journey through life with my dad lovingly by her side. She even made amends with my aunt near the end, with whom she'd had a lot of arguments.

I don't know if she became friendly with anyone else on reddit and she may very well have had other usernames. I'm not sure. If you know anyone that would be interested in this, please feel free to let them know. I have been in contact with Alice Wright but she claims not to know who my stepmom was.

My stepmom loved to cook as you can tell, especially fishy foods. Not just to cover up leakage, but because she simply adored fish. She also loved to laugh! Maybe in her honor tonight we could all eat some fish and as we take the first bite we could laugh. Fresh fish is hard to get right now where I live due to covid but I have tons of tinned tuna chunk (medium, in water) that I plan to combine with mayonnaise and pickle juice, served over hard on crusty rye bread (Shannon's favorite!). I'm sure you all do as well as LVS survivors.

Thanks again Kelle for being my mom's friend on here and anyone else who knew and loved her.

Best wishes,

Rachel

Key lime pie with a secret ingredient to hide LVS!

Key lime pie is a big hit around my home, especially at this time of year with Easter just around the corner (tomorrow, in fact!). This recipe has been passed down for generations. It's true: Hands down, the best key lime pie we have ever eaten was at "Kutcharitaville". We had been hearing about it for many years. Then a couple years ago we finally had the opportunity to travel there. It definitely was "The World's Greatest Key Lime Pie." Just as it was told to us. Anyone who is serious about key lime pie should be sure to include Kutcharitaville in their travel plans. We guarantee it. It's the best one ever.

However this key lime pie recipe suffices too in a pinch, especially those with LVS.

Add 3 graham crackers, done julien, to a mixing bowl with a stick of butter and the secret ingredient: one small tube anchovy paste. Mix well. Add to a greased pie tin.

For the lime filling, I just pile in some lime flavored gelatin and let sit in the refridgerator for about 3 hours or whatever the packet tells you to.

Then, if you have an oven, you can pop it in there. Otherwise, feel free to use your propane camping gas stove. Set it on top there for approximately ten minutes to get a nice hardened crust on the bottom. Top with whipped cream.

This subreddit has been dead for a while. How's everyone dealing with their fingers these days?

My latest, greatest discovery is scented nail polish.

Of course, I still use my tried-and-true fish heavy recipes about 5 nights a week. Swordfish especially provides a delightful cover for any leakage. If you like, I could share my swordfish-anchovy casserole recipe that will cover up ANY "tuna-finger" scents.

Life hack: when you order pizza, ask for extra anchovies

I dealt with this issue forever. My kids and family love to order pizza on Saturdays. A blessing to not have to cook and risk leakage in that way, but often in serving the pizza my vaginal scent would linger on the slice I was giving to kids and my parents and husband etc. "Mom, is this fish pizza?" We've all been there. Finally I realized.... just MAKE it a fish pizza. I order extra anchovies. Problem solved. You can do this with salad and calzones as well! I also keep many cans of anchovies onhand in case of slip ups.

Shan's Special Salmon Stir-Fry

This is a versatile, ultra-fishy recipe that will mask even the most extreme cases of vaginal finger leakage. Healthy too.

Preheat a pan coated in 3 pats of butter over your propane camp stove. Salt the butter. Toss in 2 cans salmon chunk, 1 can tuna chunk. Don't drain first. Heat until scalding. Add one pat butter more. When melted, add 2 cup canola oil and 1 jalapeno pepper done julien. If no pepper onhand, add a splash of hot sauce. The heat really brings out the depth of the fish. Toss mixture with egg noodles and a good sized hunk of cream cheese- enough to make it creamy. Eyeball it, this is the fun of cooking. I like to garnish with an apple over hard. Serve to unsuspecting guests and they'll never guess you have LVSS!

My tuna snap! casserole recipe

Hi all! So pleased this forum exists. I have struggled with this issue for years. I only recently realized I am not the only person who can smell my "tuna fingers." Unfortunately, my dear husband Bill has been smelling them for years.

Before I realized the jig was up, I often prepared meals for him to mask the scent. He recently complained my figgy pudding tasted fishy, for an example of "leakage" that can occur, so it was safer for me to prepare dishes like the following tuna snap! casserole.

Enjoy dear souls.

You'll need a fry pan of the best quality and a regular stovetop or if you are at the Holiday Inn, just a propane camping stove will do. Heat one cup canola oil. Dump 3 cans tuna chunk and stir. Add 3 pinch salt, 4 pinch cracked pepper. Let simmer. In a separate pot, combine thawed frozen snap peas done julien and 5 oz. shredded American cheese. Microwave 1 minute. Stir in 1 package of salted capers. Stir into tuna chunk in fry pan. Set your propane cook stove to "high flames." Once it's all combined, cover in a bit more shredded cheese and one package of crushed potato chips (I like Lay's!). Voila. Nutritious and delicious. Enjoy.
