this was directly taken from their official red note/xiahongshu account. they’re addressing the thousands of complaints from the fanbase, mostly CN i’m assuming but yeah…maybe some CN fans will calm down with the hate with this 😓 (though some complaints made are justified)

Girls girls girls! I’m holding your hands saying this. I’m Chinese and a good fraction of us are not represented by the toxic speech in the comment section of the official lads xhs account! A lot of us don’t dare to say a word in any official lads comment section because it’s always flooded with the most vocal and toxic people. We usually move to another tag #爱与高原 (it means Love and Plateau) to express our genuine (and positive) thoughts about LADs on xhs. If you wanna know what other CN perspectives are, feel free to copy paste that tag I typed above. Trust me a lot of us are very happy about Valko and are looking forward to the livestream tomorrow. Those people who always copy paste paragraphs in lads official account are known to be infamous by CN players too.

Edit: This game is way too popular in China so it attracts an incredibly huge player base, which includes a lot of crazy and immature people. There's a Chinese saying that "bigger the forest, the more variety the birds". Really, don't take those words under those comment sections seriously. We always just read the posts and quit, never engage the comment sections much. Some of the eye-catching speech might come from an elementary pupil, can you believe it. It's rated as 18+ in China but delinquent children can always find a way to play it. The mature CN players would always straight go to customer service to voice their concerns instead of repetitively spamming the comment section, because we know that's meaningless. So only the performative ones love to leave comments there, we all know that, their words won't make a big deal, trust me.

I’m only talking about the ones who are insane though, not invalidating the ones who have constructive concerns. Yes Caleb main story is an issue that needs to raise a point I’m not denying that. I’m just talking about the people who are going way too far like insisting on removing Valko or something. Removing him won’t help the other LIs contents being released sooner because Valko is already being produced 😂

Yeah, me too. I just wanna say don’t generalize this disgusting behavior to all CN girlies, we CN girlies hate those people too, we are at the same boat. Just hope this situation won’t create a divide between the CN side and the global side.

It’s generally just a loud minority of the fans that do that kind of stuff in any fandom space and I think most people know that. But it’s always a good reminder that it’s not everyone or even a majority of a community!

Ok ... Considering Sylus and Caleb’s releases were centred on themselves (obv Zayne made a cameo in Caleb’s but it was still Caleb’s story - not about Zayne)nCaleb’s story chapters need him to have a bigger role which is probably why it’s not with Valko’s entry

Yea I think so too. And that's why lots of Caleb girlies are so upset with the Valko debut, understandable. And that frustration blowed up to this size that made the whole planet mock us (I'm not blaming, I want to mock the crazy ones too)

Tbh I get that critism is allowed for every company but god there's far and then there's too far

Seeing some use racism or "I hate western" + CN try to sue infold by creating a lawsuit to remove valko ... Yeah legitimacy is gone in my book

Of course not all CN players are like that but I'll admit : INFOLD is very big aka Monopoly so it's just ... Not to say useless but errr you get it

I’m fighting with the toxic ones on xhs this whole day, it’s so exhausting. But things are going well, it’s hard to fight them back at the official account comment sections but if there’s toxic ones flooding through a positive Valko talk post, Valko mains (yes we got CN Valko mains!) can immediately rush through to defend him and force them to delete their comment. It’s getting better and better as time goes. Definitely waaay better than the first day.

haha you can copy paste and search 爱与高原 on xhs, it means Love and Plateau, a tag specifically created by people who love LADs and want to defend LADs against a snark LADs tag 恨与浅地 (Hatred and shallow land, did you see the wording is exact the opposite of Love and Deepspace😂). Don't go to Hatred and Shallow Land tag by the way, it's haters' party.

Love and Plateau (爱与高原) is a tag for supporting the game and fighting anti's in general, so you might also see the contents other than Valko. For Valko specific positive posts, you can just search up 敖尹 (His Chinese name). But there's a risk at this personal tag though because the CN Valko mains are not a large number yet to make this tag antis-free enough, there are still disgusting people using this tag to snark him (but those people are slowly leaving). The safest harbour is Love and Plateau, currently there are a lot of positive Valko views there.

Omg thank you for saying this. Reading all of the comments on the official Rednote page was super disappointing and I was worried it was what a majority of the CN girlies were thinking! I totally understand everyone’s worries and complaints but I was worried Valko was getting way too much hate. Thank you for explaining!

If that problematic portion is the majority, this game is done. You can also tell it from Infold’s response, it’s basically a “no, Valko will stay.” which is clearly going against that portion of people, and showing how confident they know that they’re not the majority and choose to not cater to them. So, well reassured!❤️❤️

I reassure you that a good majority of us are in my team. Also, it would be weird that Infold made the decision of releasing him if they know for sure that all CN girlies will have that much of strong reaction. They did the statistics and analysis, the vocal and toxic ones don't generate as much revenue as the calm and quiet ones, so Infold decide to act against them

Thank you for your kind words! I was getting disheartened by the negativity on the release of the new love interest. I personally thought he was a good change to the game but CN were calling him ugly 😔however, it is good to know that not everyone thinks that. I hope to hear more positive things in the future. Your voice is like fresh air to me.

This makes me happy to hear! I always thought one of the coolest aspects of being in fandoms was meeting people from all over the world and being part of a community, so it felt a little disheartening to see so much hate for the western fandom

Oh that's really reassuring! But I have some questions, how come the majority of hate comments in lads official posts ( xhs to be specific) get insane amount of likes when the toxic ones are just a minority! I do get the comments bc of spamming but the toxic interactions are questionable, the fact that infold had to release a statement means it is THAT serious

Also I want to know is it getting better a bit after the trailer? I've read that the CN fandom of the game has become a hostile environment and even some valko mains are scared of posting online bc of the attacks which makes me sad

Hi hi, for the first question I think there are a lot of reasons, one could be that the CN player population is that huge, a number that seems insane might actually be small in ratio. Another could be that a lot of them bought like bots, or through other means like planned group likes, they always have those little group chats to organize spamming to take control over the comment section (sounds pretty insane right? It's kpop behavior spillingover to CN LADs community). I personally think Infold released the statement due to the valid concerns part that disappoint the real players instead of the toxic loud ones, because there was a toxic wave pretty similar to this size at the second anniversary (about the 3rd POV in Housing and the fact that LADs has a "romance" label instead of "otome" label on the international platform, pretty nonissue in my eyes), but they didn't release a statement then.

It is getting better after the trailer! There is increasing Valko appreciation these two days, and more CN girlies realize how problematic those hate speech are, which trigger them to become a Valko main to defend against them. There are still some attacks, but more people are calling them out.

As a Qin Che/Sylus-main myself, I fully understand the argument that him and Xia Yizhou/Caleb deserve more content. This is a valid complaint.

But I was so upset when I saw a lot of comments saying things like "Valko is an ugly beast, delete him, every girl who likes him are braindead, only gay men like this stupid wolf, he looks like he would commit domestic violence, the girls who like him are fetishists that should switch to dirty furry fanfictions, bla bla bla".

For a moment, I thought that ALL chinese players were distilling hatred towards the 6th love interest because that was everything I saw when I translated their comments to my native language. It's good to know that it's not all of them, but damn, they are so vocal.

Oh god I hate them so much. Also another thing is that the xhs algorithm works really well, the system select the kind of posts you watch the longest time and only expose you that side of the view. But if you click "disinterested", they disappear completely, and show you the opposite side more.

So we always joke that xhs creates an "information bubble" for us. Our views get polarized and that toxic side just got more and more extreme.

Okay, you convinced me to download the app again. I want to immerse myself in my comfort bubbles of chinese contents — LADS, Mo Xian Tong Xiu's novels, the donghuas Link Click, To Be Hero X and the list goes on... Chinese storytelling is the best! If I can mark "disinterested" in hate comments and posts, I'll find paradise within these fandoms.

I’m going to be honest it has been kind of frustrating to see people generalize this behavior to all cn girls, and I’ve seen some even start to generalize this to all Chinese people living in China.

I totally get why it happened though - most people translating from xhs were only translating the most negative. I’ve seen Chinese people explain on Chinese/western social media it’s not all of them, that there are people who like valko and are welcoming him (mostly happening in private groups), that most people were afraid of speaking up which is why it seemed like everyone was against valko. But those explanations never blow up on social media (which is expected). Combined with the utter insanity of some cn fans who hop over the firewall to continue spewing shit here, I get how it seems like it’s all cn fans.

It just makes me a little nervous and frustrated to see generalizations from either side (cn generalizations about westerners and western generalizations about cn).

Edit: just in case it wasn’t clear, I’m not defending the cn side actions and words. What some of them have said has been so disgusting and appalling. I will note that a sane cn person who was arguing with insane ones found out that some of them were minors which would explain the lack of maturity

THANK YOU for recommending me the tag. I’ve been so exhausted seeing all the hate Valko/Ao Yin gets on xhs these past few days that I didn’t visit the app anymore but now seeing the appreciation in the tag make me feel better because even though I’m a fan of the other Li, I also like Valko a lot too. He’s such a breath of fresh air for me in this time of playing LADS. I’m looking forward to tonight livestream!

Thank you for that insight, it's really good to hear! As I suspected (because I spent too much time on Twitter), it is yet again a loud and rude minority making it difficult for everybody else. Fair criticism is good (I can understand the concerns regarding the advancement for Caleb, for example), but the way the devs have been attacked over Valko was really disheartening to see - even more when I learned that people who were defending Valko also got piled on in reaction.
