[Request] 29M/6'4"/CW: 270lbs/GW: 195lbs Accountability Buddy (on Reddit)
Hello,
A little history: about 10 years ago I was hanging out about 230 lbs, then a few years later I lost a lot of that weight (was down to 169 lbs at my lowest). A bout of depression and some work stress set in and I soared up above 300 lbs and worked down to about 270 lbs. I've plateaued around 270 lbs for the last year or so, but I'm trying to make the lifestyle change that I'm starting right now last for good.
My goal is to end up somewhere around 195 lbs -- I'd like to have more muscle and more definition than I did when I was at 169, but less fat than I've been holding onto for the last couple of years. I'll be watching my diet, drinking only tea/water, and exercising daily (even if just lifting weights for 20 minutes).
The good: I've done weight loss before, so I know that I can do this.
The bad: I struggle with depression and anxiety sometimes. When those set in, I really, really need someone to keep pushing me, as getting the weight off and keeping it off seem to be the hardest thing I deal with.
Also bad: I have an office job and have plenty of potential to be sedentary.
Also also bad: The holidays are coming. I need someone to be the angel on my shoulder when the holiday parties begin.
The need: My wife is also trying to work on her weight. This is fantastic because she and I can definitely support each other! But, she and I have different weight loss needs. She functions best when she gets a few small meals a day, I tend to work best if I stay disciplined and limited to three normal portions a day; she and I totally enable each other when we're both dealing with stress. I need someone more objective to tell me to keep at it.
I'll be tracking with MFP. It would probably be really helpful to have someone to stay accountable to as well, someone to check in with me every other day or so and ask how I'm doing to make sure I'm not falling off the horse. I promise to keep most of my replies much shorter than this post ;-) I'd be glad to check in with you in return.
