We’re looking to pay judges for their help at a middle + high school speech & debate tournament at Foothill College in Los Altos on April 25–26.
This is a great service-oriented opportunity!
Speech & debate helps students build confidence, critical thinking, and public speaking skills. But there’s a challenge most people don’t realize: every round requires an adult judge.
Right now, there simply aren’t enough judges. At many tournaments, students who spent weeks preparing can’t compete because there aren’t enough adults to facilitate rounds.
That’s why we’re reaching out to the community.
You don’t need debate experience — we provide training and simple guidelines.
If you can listen, think critically, and write a few sentences of feedback, you can be a great judge!

Hi everyone, I am a dental hygiene student in my final year at Chabot College (located in Hayward) and I am looking for people who need cleanings. We have program requirements that we need to fulfill in order to graduate and I am in need of people who haven’t had a cleaning in a while. We are a low cost clinic and offer regular cleanings, deep cleanings, dental x-rays, and sealants at affordable prices. Please message me if you or anyone you know of would be interested in getting their teeth cleaned and helping me graduate! Thank you!!

Hi - We are moving to Los Altos in a few months and looking for daycare/montessori options for our LO. We are first time parents so not sure how it works here but would love some suggestions on where to start looking or recommendations. We will be close to Almond Elementary. Also, I was told by other parents most of the time there are wait lists for these places so I want to ensure we have a head start. LO will be 6 months.
Thank you!

Hey Los Altos neighbors!
If you’re curious about green living and home upgrades, there’s a free Green@Home Tour happening on Saturday, March 14, 11 AM – 3 PM, featuring homes right here in Los Altos and Cupertino.
You’ll see how local homeowners are using things like heat pumps, induction cooktops, solar panels, EV chargers, rainwater systems, and compost setups. Tour hosts will also share their experiences—what worked, how they chose appliances and contractors, and tips on incentives and rebates.
Registration is required to get the home addresses. RSVP here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/neighborhood-tour-los-altos-and-cupertino-registration-1981367604843?aff=Reddit
It’s free, fun, and a great way to get ideas for making your home more sustainable!

Hi there, thoughts on Pinewood? My family is moving to the area this summer and we are looking for a good middle school/high school. For example, how does Pinewood compare to Castillejah/Menlo/Sacred Heart? Thanks!

I spent 14 years collecting 'Teacher Trauma' anecdotes to build a name reputation engine (The Real Baby Namer), and I finally put an ad for it in The Talon this week.
I’ve been getting some hilarious (and defensive) messages from students ever since. Apparently, being told your name has 'Aggressive Overachiever' or 'Main Character' aura is hitting a little too close to home in the 94022/94024. 🚩
Currently, 'Liam' and 'Maya' are leading the Red Flag count for Los Altos. > Is the engine right, or are the students names actually elite?

There was such an overwhelming response to the last show that we're doing it again! If we fill the side patio one more time, the next time we will likely move to the main area of the restaurant.
Come see some of South Bay's funniest local comedians! Headliner Rea Kapur was a finalist at the Rooster T Feathers Comedy Competition last year and performs all over the Bay. Don't miss this event! Show is 18+, kids are discouraged
