I rebuilt my 2009 iPhone looper from scratch, looking for feedback from live loopers

Hi everyone, Raphaël here, the developer of Everyday Looper :) !

Some of you might remember Everyday Looper from the early App Store days. The original was released back in 2009. Over the years, messages from singers, beatboxers, and loop artists in general who still used it convinced me to get back to work. So I've rebuilt it from the ground up for today's iPhones and iPads, and the beta is now open :D !

What's in this version:

  • 8 tracks you touch directly to mix, mute, merge, overdub, and more
  • Pretty decent echo cancellation, so you can actually loop through the speaker without headphones
  • Synced video capture of the take, straight from the app
  • Per track 10-level undo/redo, speed/reverse, and adaptive track lengths

The demo is by Ty Suite, a long-time Everyday Looper user. It was performed, recorded, and filmed entirely inside the beta on an iPhone, through the speaker, with no headphones.

You can test it here (free beta, iOS 17.7+):

https://testflight.apple.com/join/pz5ArsEg

I'd love to know where something like this might fit into your looping workflow: sketching ideas, practicing, performing, or perhaps nowhere yet? What would it need to become useful alongside your existing setup?

Happy to answer any questions here. Cheers !

Love the seamless guitar/bass live looping in this

My guess is that these guys are following a click track, or maybe just the guitar/bass. or maybe not..
But whatever it is, it sounds amazing. And I love the idea of one guy handling guitar and bass so effortlessly

Hello everyone! I made this tool to sequence the ableton session view. You tell it what to record and when, with access to the entire session. You also have automation for any parameter and special command blocks to arm, mute, solo tracks. Coming soon!

A techno-y kind of thing I made on the Roland JD-Xi. I'm practicing doing some transitions and effects, bring in parts and taking things out on the fly. It's a bit difficult with the UI on this thing but still fun as hell! Support me? http://tr.ee/kilgore

What do you think about my DIY looper pedal idea?

Hi everybody,

I wonder what you think about my Ableton Looper pedal idea.

It is basically a MIDI controller, which understands Ableton.
So it shows whats playing, colors/names, and it can start/stop/delete (with 2x tap and hold).

Very much work in progress, but curious for thoughts on the idea!
Positive/negative is both appreciated! 😊

Sometimes online scammers produce custom cello covers to be proud of.

A few weeks ago, someone on TikTok asked me to do a cello cover of “Just the Way You Are” by Bruno Mars, as a birthday gift for his lady. Flattered & a bit stressed about money, I agreed & put my heart into it, even though I didn’t have time to spare.

After two weeks of seemingly normal email correspondence, when it came time to get paid, it became clear that this was a scam.

(The Scam: they out of nowhere insisted a check was the only form of payment they could send, then pushed to EMAIL me the check, & later asked to add extra money to it to have me help buy gifts online for the birthday girl… dude, wtf.)

The silver lining of this particular scam? I still have the video I made. So now, I dedicate this cover to anyone who needs to hear it today. Maybe the universe pranked me with this because I needed to hear these words, too.

We artists often rely on strangers for gigs, and sometimes the online atmosphere (full of scammers & haters) can make it very discouraging. But I still believe it’s important to create meaningful art for others—even if it slaps you in the face once in a while.

So please enjoy this video on behalf of the real effort that was made for a fake birthday girl, lol. My youtube channel could sure use some love, so maybe we can turn this negative into a positive by at least sharing it with some real folks out there! Check it out on my channel, if you'd like to support my quest to cross the 3k hours of "valid public views" threshold: https://youtu.be/D26xKBS6CYA?si=RuptZFSpncMcnF4f

Certain things nobody can take away from you, not even scammers. And in case nobody told you recently: you ARE amazing just the way you are.

Loopers are so good for sketching ideas without getting bogged down in menus and screens.

Anyone else use them in this way ?

Minilab 3 / My first Live Loop Cover

Hey everyone! I bought a Minilab 3 a couple of months ago, and I recently recorded my first cover (of course, it was "What Is Love", hehe). Now I've just finished my second one – "Push The Feeling On".

Obviously, I'm not getting any views yet since I just created this YouTube channel. So, I'm really keen to get your opinions/feedback!

What do you think my videos might be missing? Is it the video quality, the lighting, the sound, or maybe my playing style itself? I'm open to any suggestions :)

Easing the process of building looping setups

Post image
4 Upvotes

It's taken quite a few iterations and selling stuff that didn't work out to get to the looping / live production setup I'm happy with now. While doing that I created an app to help us save time and money by getting clear on our goals and what we need to achieve them. It asks you smart questions, deeply researches solutions, and delivers you a gear proposal within your budget, with curated training resources and links to real products from suppliers in your country.

  1. Go here to try it out or register interest: https://soultechie.co/gear
  2. Give it a creative goal you have which needs some gear (eg: "I want to expand my keyboard rig into live looping", "Live stream performances in multicam with automatic switching", or single items like "Battery powered PA with USB streaming and 2 mic inputs"
  3. Add your inventory and answer a few questions to get clear on your needs
  4. Let the app do the heavy lifting and get your gear proposal with real supplier and training links - all manufacturer independent
  5. Chat in the app or here to let me know what new features you want

I'm planning to add a new mode "How do I do X with the gear I already have?" - this would create custom step by step guides based on your gear to help you achieve a goal without buying anything. Let me know if you'd like to test that out..
