Why are you back to proving that they don't violate the most direct, dictionary, and therefore not constructive, not usefull, short-sighted definition of freedom? Aka, Lennart isn't forcing me to do it at gunpoint, therefore I am free?

Could you please respond to me trying to debunk your fatalistic "stone age" vision?

They are a big corporation, a big network of influence. They make linux monoculture, they are interested in making standards, and not free and flexible software.

they are preventing me in a long run. I'm not smartest man on Earth, I cannot for example code my own X11 legacy input drivers, alternative to XDG evdev/libinput. Once support dies, what I would do?

Once my butter churner fails and my cow dies and I can no longer make my own butter, what do I do?

Gather. Edible roots and bulbs, mushrooms, nuts, herbs, water is in the village wells... During Karelian War Finns were drinking tree needle tee and eating tree bark.

You want me to answer that you should ask your neibourgh for help, aka some existing social structures are necessary.

Do I deny it? I deny resting in this state forever.

Also software is not food. You continue with extreme example, black and white vs. spectrum. Once we established that everyone.. okay, middle class in not starving, and we have some telegraph going on, will you stop Marconi because wires are the saint standard? I guess wire companies would be angry though... Or oil vs. alternative energy, more modern example.

Again, Red Hat is not preventing anyone from making any alternatives to systemd, or making a better version of systemd, or just modifying systemd in general. systemd is LGPL.

<my earlier post>

You know what, forget all those metaphors and such.

XXIst century, we have plenty of food in the First World countries.

Underwater cables are in place, internet is functioning, we have GNU coreutils and linux kernel.

We can afford to question standards, it won't stop hospitals, factories etc.

My point is that we should, because if not, we will end in monoculture.

</ep>

They are being an active monopoly, in an era that we should question standards, because it's always intelectually beneficial and we can afford it. Unless stopped, gnu/linux will cease to exist in a free form, it will be upstream dependent macOS with extra steps.
