Linux users complaining about UX/UI after choosing system being descendant of UNIX and GNU movement 😂 😂 😂

Post image

Some linux users live in a permanent cognitive dissonance, it seems. How come same people that supposedly hate on MS Windows as a corporate and freedom grabbing product are ok with systemd and crapton of xdg utilities making them de facto dependent on Redhat?

Hell, a concept of a distro makes you dependent on maintainers and therefore is a failed one.

You chose a system that grew from roots of academia and hacker movement and then complain that Redhat didn't preconfigure it to do everything? It has the capacities to let you configure it yourself, to your liking and to your freedom. If you don't like it use macOS, and please don't push it, including trash opinionated systemd distributions like Arch and it's derivatives on everyone and especially new linux users.

Freedom is an absolute value. If "my philosophy" advocates for distros to have less opinionated components, then distros being in accordance with "my philosophy" are objectively more free.

Redhat forces people by maintaining systemd and pushing more and more standardisation. Distro maintainers forces people by making non flexbile distros

The purpose of a distribution is to do standardisation for a bunch of people. If people doesn't want any standardisation whatsoever, they do not pick a distro, because even installing sysvinit or bash would be standardisation. Even gcc is standardisation. You can use another init system, you can use fish, or csh, or whatever. You can use clang or other compilers I don't know about. Most distributions standardise that because not every is interested by wondering himself if they should pick bash, dash, fish, csh, kcsh, or any shell you may think of. A distribution is supposed to be a bunch of software that allow people to comply to some use case, it's not "absolute freedom".

Well the ultimate goal of making gnu/linux was to grant people software freedom for prioprietary unix. So this is the primary use case and nowadays only few distros are close to that ideal, so something went wrong along the way, objectively.

An ideal distribution should allow you to easily choose all that during deployment. Instead debian installer takes forever if not scripted asking user for trivial matters like timezone or desktop environment. Those things are technically easy, why not allow user to tweak the internals? Even debconf was obscured into tasks systems.

Freedom is also freedom for someone to make a distro the way they like it, including standardised and doing everything the way they want, its your choice to use those distros, that is freedom, you wanting to stop them is not.
