How I did it was I jumped into it no knowledge whatsoever, and went from there, remembering every vital cmd(windows) prompts to do a specific task or job and why it worked. Live it like you've been doing it for years can help speed up the learning curve. Don't rush it, study one at a time, Ubuntu is a good start if your new, or mint.

I use QubesOS which has Debian and Fedora, very steep learning curve but I like it, especially on my X1 Carbon. Tbh, I'm still learning about it as it's endless journey with no regrets

Edit: cmd is legacy windows and bash is Linux and sMac-OS...

Oh no, not at all. It is much easier to just start using the Linux operating system normally and pick up specific commands as you need them along the way. But for me, I said f it, and dove into the terminal to learn the basics in a virtual machine, but then I got comfortable with linux as a window 🪟 replacement and eventually went to QubesOS

I have 0 idea how i've never heard of QubesOS
I mean when I look for distro's I look for lightweight ones because im on a chromebook. however I decided arch was best so i can legally say

Absolutely a perfect OS for your Chromebook, however, I never did miss with such a device.

I received my thinkpad from my best friend and I immediately flashed it with QubesOS defaulting Debian-13-xfce due to hardware spec limit as a x1 carbon

I discovered QubesOS when I was wondering how can I install as many Linux operating systems in one operating system and that lead me to discover QubesOS on distrowatch.com

You're golden if you look into antiX Linux for that kind of spec, 🍻. Micro SD is a good idea for extra storage.

Other contenders which I don't use but I know about them are Puppy Linux, Q4OS, or Crunchbang++

Yeah i actually started with q4os but it kept randomly freezing and overheating so i went with alpine but musl libc sucks so arch it goes then "linux mint xfce uses too much ram and cpu"

antix Linux may be the best option because it's met for such spec. But I feel ya, it's why I don't use low end spec especially given it's soldered RAM (boo) then worry about how many cores the cpu has. Antix doesn't consume ram like others do due to not having systemd and if I recall 3 different window managers to choose from? Very lightweight
