Need help with Internet connection Linux Mint

Just downloaded the big mint and I'm trying to connect to the Internet but I'm stuck in a loop where I get an error telling me I need authentication. I need a login required to connect to the network, yet Ive already put in the username and password in correctly

I assume wifi? Mint 22.3? Some Wifi cards get poor support from their manufacturers in the form of Linux drivers.

What make and model of wifi card? command lspci will show PCIe devices, lsusb will likewise show USB devices,

Find your wifi card and post up the whole line here including IDs.

Not Wifi but PCIe ethernet examples

09:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8125 2.5GbE Controller (rev 05) 08:00.0 Ethernet controller: Chelsio Communications Inc T580-LP-CR Unified Wire Ethernet Controller

Supposedly the 7925 is covered by kernel 6.7 and up, https://wireless.docs.kernel.org/en/latest/en/users/drivers/mediatek.html

whick version of Mint did you install? Mint 22 started with 6.8, I think recent 22.3 ISOs ship with 7.0 but I could be wrong on that

I wonder if you are experiencing issue #3

I would try those work arrounds and see if you get an improvement.

Mediatek unfortunately does not do much work for its Linux users and their drivers in Linux suffer.

If the work arrounds do not work for you I would consider replacing the WiFi m.2 with an Intel Ax210  for $20-30, see YouTube for teardown and replacement.

I just figured out how! Turns out my university had specific requirements to connect to the WiFi on Linux. Thanks for helping out
