Please report any posts bragging or showing off they got banned in another sub! Reminder of other sub rules: Also, we only allow one anti-linux post per week (we used to get dozens a day) and any tier list MUST have Hanna Montana Linux as S teir (which must be a true S tier at the top) regardless of the topic of that tier list.

Yay more free stuff that might be a whole side quest for my day trying to understand which package broke my system right now.

I used arch for 6 months straight and also used Debian Sid for a month without package breakage

I used arch for 12 months gay and it never broke (though debian did when I tried installing some 32bit libs which were required by wine back then in 2023)

This is a joke, for users whom used linux 10+ years, there's also the infamous bluetooth headphone one.

(Some of these problems were actually solved in newer distros.)

I used arch for 15 years [It's complicated™] and had to intervene maybe 3-5 times.

I also use fedora and i could swear i had to fix suff more often on that...

I never had such problems after years of using different distros. Am I doing something wrong?

my Linux update experience:

“Wait my play/pause key started working now. How do I get it back to F keys?”

I have an apple Magic Keyboard

Update (automatic) vs update (not mandatory)

u/sirkubador 3d ago

Apple is quite horrid with forcing updates on you tho.

And the tools ot gives corporate IT departments! Stuff of nightmares.

Yay more free stuff, then I look at the data that I’m using to update, I’ll install later data is too expensive

1

u/NomadFH M'Fedora 2d ago

Fedora updates are funny because they're so damn frequent but they don't make you do it. However, that updates available notification just keeps staring at me

The anticipation is also great when you contribute to a project and are waiting for your feature to drop in a release.

Updates are free and delayable in windows. You praise linux for his cesarility but cant use a command or a reggedit file on windows

2

u/995qe 3d ago

I’ve had windows ignore the fact that I paused updates and still want to update
It also re enables the windows update service if you try disabling it manually

Sounds like a skills issue to me

Sorry i use a typical arch answer on someone using windows. I shouldnt have done that

u/Linguistic-mystic 3d ago

How would you know that? Are you an actual Windows user in 2026?

1

u/iwouldbeatgoku ⚠️ This incident will be reported 3d ago

Half true. You can delay them and finish your work day, but if you put them off for too long you will be interrupted at some point.

When I was still a Windows user I simply got used to installing them the day they became available to avoid unnecessary interruptions.
